To those not in the US...

what is the process for a brit emigrating to the US?

Well, my wife is American so I'm applying on that basis for a spousal visa. Just have to fill in a whole bunch of paperwork and wait, basically.

Another option is to invest money in a business, or get employed by an American company. Depending on what industry you're in they may have some sort of program for their employees to have the option of working internationally.

Yeah American emigration laws are also terrible. They're bringing doom upon them attracting random, mostly unqualified people that will cost America a lot. As well as illegal immigrants.
Educated/qualified people who have no family in America have very slim chances for a green card. Unless they're rich already. It'll be really bad if they won't change that.

No, I would never want to live in a country where the likes of baseball is more revered than football (soccerball to you).

I don't care about either. I saw the FA Cup Final in 1995 at Wembley and 1 or 2 random premiership games in the late 90's/early 00's. I also saw a baseball game, San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks, in San Diego, a decade ago.

The baseball match was 100x more fun.

what? because of the stupid music the hypeman generates for the crowd?

the sport is what matters... football is more dynamic, explosive, end to end... but speaking on those characteristics, so is basketball. but football > basketball.

I dont mind baseball actually, Ill watch it on tv but theres too much standing around. Love American football too, but cant understand why football isnt more popular (granted it seems alot more popular nowadays). Cant imagine living in a place like that, for example, I deal with alot of couriers in work daily, probably about 5 a day and if there was no such thing as football then I dont think we'd say 2 words to each other. Each delivery is a guranteed 10 minute chat about the footie lol

But the Weather is a major part of why Australia is so good. in England, you have rain, rain and snow. You have a short summer that last's for about 15 minutes and a temperature that desperately tries to break into double figures yet fails 9 times out of 10.

Here, the sun gives everyone a naturally sunny disposition. There's no reason to be unhappy, so we're not. You British are a lot grumpier. Sure, you have reasons to be grumpier.. cos it's shit there.

We have public barbecues and open-air swimming pools for anyone and everyone to use, or sun bake next to. Not to mention the Australian women!
This would never occur in England, because your teenage delinquents would vandalize, wreak and piss on the barbecues. Plus it's too cold and shit to have open air swimming pools.

Last i heard shitty England doesn't even have drive through Bottle-o's, why bother having to get out of the car to stock up on a delicious slab of Carlton Draft, when you can do it from the comfort of your own car seat?!

Did I mention England is shit?

Been to England? I am guessing not.

I love America. But London is the best city in the world.

In my line of work, and at my age.... Immigration to Oz or the US is pretty straightforward. The best thing about both Countries is that compared to where I live, they are cheap as fuck.

I had more fun actually watching the sport. I just find it more interesting.

Football = boring. Both NFL and English football. I actually fell asleep during the World Cup matches I attempted to watch this year. Snoozefest.

Soccer is boring as shit. Same activity level as basketball, but a lot more boring. The fan excitement, however, I feel is unmatched. Still, doesn't change the fact the game is shit.

The best allegiance in the world, I feel, is college football. Even if you don't give two shits about football, you will get into it with the crowd. The band, the players. It's ridiculous. Some rivalries break marriages. That's how far it goes.

How can you talk about "the world" when only 1 country plays your sports.

There's a reason why football is played in nearly every country worldwide.

I refuse to move in a country where there is no public health insurance. I move forward in life, not backwards.

Plus I live in Montreal, it doesn't get better than this.

im actually going to new york very early next year and am heaps excited

the city that never sleeps
filled wit villains and creeps

If I didn't live in Australia I would like to live in the US. Somewhere where the climate and lifestyle resembles Australia. I've always wanted to go to an American High School and attend college parties like you see in the movies. Is it really like that?
