This is my thread

Is worker shortages real? I think that's a corporate talking point. Latinos generally work hard. Some of them send money back home or they live in multi generational homes. I think "the greatest influx" of illegal immigration hurts these guys more than others like educated white woman. The poll numbers I think suggests that. I heard the years of asylum backlogs will end up costing millions anyway.

Social media Trump has always been reactionary to political problems. Somebody created this mess we live in 2024 America and Trump is not the first guy to blame.

I was going to make an animated movie about Trump in which a Chinese clone of Trump survives the Earth's destruction in 2045 by escaping his maximum security lab and stowing-away aboard the last Chinese space-bound shuttle. His clone then joins forces with the surviving human allies to bring the battle straight to the Illuminati headquarters in hell. But then, I was browsing Amazon Prime and found that someone had already made it. It's called "Trump vs the Illuminati" (2000). Check it out, it's crazy. Animated sci-fi with Trump. (No, I hadn't been thinking of making such shit, if you're not sure.)

Then I found a movie called "Bad President" (2021) The devil encourages Trump to run for president so he can have a political puppet. But throughout Trump's many gaffes, the devil wonders if he even has a chance of winning. It's so bad it's funny.

I might just stop watching movies made after, say, 2010.

Among the first things Trump says he wants to do is close the southern border. OK, I don’t know. Sounds like that will lead to some problems. Then he wants to drill, drill, drill. Sure, you can bring the price down if you do bad things, like drill on federal lands, national parks and waters. So that’s bad. Then he’ll probably pardon himself for whatever he can. Then probably the Jan 6th rioters (1500+) and other criminals he likes. He also said he’ll make prosecutors and judges pay for bringing multiple criminal cases against him. I don’t know what looks like, but not good.

Mass deportations. That would cost billions of dollars and leave businesses short of workers. He wants to put the kibosh on Green New Deal stuff like offshore wind energy projects. That sucks. Put the kibosh on electric car incentives. Elon can’t be happy about that. Elon thinks he’s going to run the economy or something. Trump is giving him the made-up title, Secretary of Cost Cutting. Now run along back to Twitter, Elon.

RFK wants to remove fluoride from drinking water. Probably a good thing, it’s not good for the body. But he wants to replace it with billions of worms. Clearly, the worm in his brain has its own agenda.

Trump wants to end federal funding for certain schools pushing race, gender and sexual orientation classes. This might be a good thing.

A lot of what he says he wants to do is illegal or impractical.

What good can I see from a Trump presidency. No wars, if it’s up to him. We can forget a war with Russia, at the expense of Ukraine, of course. However, he will let Israel, maybe with our help, hit Iran hard. But no boots on the ground. That’s good, too. The price of gas will get lower. Food will not. And then his tariffs and proposed national sales tax will raise the price of everything.

Since he can’t run again and/or won’t leave anyway, he shouldn’t be beholden to anyone. He doesn’t have to follow a GOP agenda or care what voters think. For instance, he doesn’t personally care about the abortion issue. So maybe he won’t even touch it.

Can’t think of anything else positive. Many, many negatives. My biggest concerns are hits to Social Security/Medicaid, the environment, the rule of law, and yes, democracy.
Legal immigration is what most people are asking. Vetting immigration. We can do a lot better than Ellis Island. Even the legal immigrants would agree. No stuffing illegals to get more votes. That hurst everyone. Money is finite.

If America is Twitter, I can see Elon getting rid of wasteful spending and totalitarian censorship we saw with COVID.

I don't need to like the boss, as long as he's running the company well. Anybody that gets offended by words on the internet can go find a safe space and practice digital detox. No social media for kids. Of course adults will still be offended by this change of tides because they live in an Empire of Lies.

RFK Jr. wants to fight more than fluoride. We know where he's going with this. I think Trump knows enough to suspect that he was fooled on Operation Warp Speed. Compare that to motherfuckers that pushed killer jabs to kids and threatened "anti-vaxxers" with unemployment.

Who's going to pay for the trillions of debt America has? What good is dollars if such debt exists? I'm not an economist so I don't know. Stop spending money on BS is what I can think of.

"Trump wants to end federal funding for certain schools pushing race, gender and sexual orientation classes." - Good. The federal government is broke and genitalia politics is a joke. I hope more LGBT people recognize this.

A lot of what Trump says is bullshit but he get votes anyway because Americans can think for themselves. We need to stop sending billions of dollars to Ukraine. It's crime against humanity.

What Trump should do is make deals. Keep the untouchable M.I.C. happy while minimizing death of civilians.

"Can’t think of anything else positive. Many, many negatives."

That's why we need to "Make America Great Again" - Okay, I get it, America was never great but we need to make things a little better and Kamala was not a convincing saleswoman.

No need to point fingers. The Democrats need to find their own Trump. Get rid of 20th century tricks like women's rights and spreanding "democracy" abroad.

America is fucking broke and most voters can't come to terms with that.

I'd make a Trump Watch thread but nobody wants to read this shit. You Know?

Immigration is such a minor problem but seems to be top of every *racist* persons list. Population growth is necessary for every capitalist country. If your birth rate is going down then you'll need to bring people in. You also need people who are going to do the jobs that you think you're too good to do. Clean toilets etc. These jobs are usually done by immigrants too.

We saw it all with Brexit. People are idiots. They wanted to stop 'muslims' coming in. Well closing your borders to Europeans isn't really going to help much. Also... Immigration levels are actually higher now than when we had freedom of movement in Europe. Plus... My tradesmen and my cleaner are now more expensive

So you're calling me racist because you think "they just do jobs people don't want" - BS.

There's plenty of people of all colors on the ground pointing to the issue. That's what I'm basing it on.

How come it as okay for you to come into the USA, but not Juan Hernandez?

I also think you're a bit dumb. So I don't blame you for being brainwashed.

Why quote me but quote something I didn't say?

Simply, because you need it, Americans don't want to clean toilets. That's the jobs you can't fill, so immigrants do them. Part of me thinks capitalism should fix it by upping the wages until they are appealing to Americans, but no one ever does that

Maybe we need less toilets. Supply and demand anyone? Remember when somebody in the Democratic party said "if you don't vote for Kamala you ain't black" even I know you shouldn't tell black men how to be black.

I'm telling you immigration is a big deal because people say it is.

Maybe UK has better laws and the government abides by those laws?

This is more than what we have here, so they tell me.

Biden's hometown turned red, I guess. Walz's Blue Earth went red too, I heard.

What a bunch of bullshit, lol. People are racist for not wanting millions of illegal immigrants coming into the country without being vetted first? Trump and many other republicans have said that they're all for legal immigration. If you can't agree that allowing millions of illegal immigrants into this country unvetted doesn't allow for drugs, human trafficking, terrorism, etc. then I don't know what to tell you. You should want your country to be safe.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the illegal immigration issue enough to have strong opinions. I do know that most of them are not criminals and are not raping children. Yes, no one should get in illegally. But I don't like the idea of storm troopers coming in and forcibly removing people who have worked and lived here honestly for like10 years. Who's going to be next, documented "foreigners" they don't like? Blacks who get arrested? I do know it will have an impact on the U.S. economy, bedsides the actual cost of deportation.

So one would think if illegal workers are deported that would open up jobs for citizens. That's the problem with just thinking with your gut, like Trump does and many of his supporters.

I found this online and have no reason to doubt it:

"Mass deportations would cause significant labor shocks across multiple key industries, with especially acute impacts on construction, agriculture, and the hospitality sector. We estimate that nearly 14 percent of people employed in the construction industry are undocumented. Removing that labor would disrupt all forms of construction across the nation, from homes to businesses to basic infrastructure. As industries suffer, hundreds of thousands of U.S.-born workers could lose their jobs."

"These numbers do not even come close to capturing the human cost of mass deportation. About 5.1 million U.S. citizen children live with an undocumented family member. Separating family members would lead to tremendous emotional stress and could also cause economic hardship for many of these mixed-status families who might lose their breadwinners, jeopardizing their economic and social well-being."

"Mass deportation would almost certainly threaten the well-being of immigrants with lawful status in the United States (and even, potentially, naturalized U.S. citizens) and their communities; they would live under the shadow of weaponized enforcement as the U.S. went after their neighbors." (Of course it would)

Now get this:

"Beyond the direct financial cost of mass deportation, we also estimated the impact on the U.S. economy. Due to the loss of workers across U.S. industries, we found that mass deportation would reduce the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) by 4.2 to 6.8 percent. It would also result in significant reduction in tax revenues for the U.S. government. In 2022 alone, undocumented immigrant households paid $46.8 billion in federal taxes and $29.3 billion in state and local taxes. Undocumented immigrants also contributed $22.6 billion to Social Security and $5.7 billion to Medicare." (Of course, the GOP has no need to fund Social Security or Medicare, since they want to cut them or have them run out, so this would be a two birds with one stone deal for them.)

Except, it turns out, some do—but maybe for a good reason. In 2015, biologists at the University of Arizona observed that quite a number of so-called “worker ants” spend most of their time, well, not working. “They really just sit there,” Daniel Charbonneau, a researcher at the university, said in a statement. They might chip in with chores—grooming or brood care, from time to time—but most of the time, they’re studious about doing nothing. In Temnothorax rugatulus colonies in the lab, Charbonneau found around 40 percent of the six-legged subjects were industriously inactive.

Somehow, Charbonneau and two fellow researchers were able to ascertain which 20 percent of ants in the colony were the hardest-working. Then they removed them. Once the cream had been skimmed off the top, the “lazy” upped their activity level to match that of their missing comrades. “This suggests that the colony responds to the loss of highly active workers by replacing them with inactive ones,” Charbonneau said, in a statement. By contrast, if the least active 20 percent get plucked out, they aren’t replaced. Those lazy ants aren’t really good-for-nothing—they’re good-for-back-up. It’s not hard to see how a single disaster could wipe out a colony’s best ants, Charbonneau said. “Since they can live for up to five years or more, they have to overwinter, and being snowed in claims many workers each season.”
TSA first. The rest of the alphabet agencies can have a lotto. Private sector Americans are facing layoffs too. Maybe they can have a tent city on the White House lawn. Trump can invite some to rant at the oval office.
