This is my thread

Off topic about watches. Anyone a watch buff and know where Fossil ranks on the spectrum? Is there a stereotype associated with it?

It's no Rolex or some other high end piece. But surely it's better than the shit that comes at the bottom of a cereal box.

I wouldn't cop.

What I'm looking forward to:

Homeland S05 (premieres tomorrow on Sho)
Into the Badlands (martial arts-themed show on AMC, 11/15)
Billions (show about politics and power in new york on Sho, 1/17/16)
The Affair S02 (premiers tomorrow on Sho)
Vinyl (1970s new york music scene, HBO, 2016)
Westworld (some AI shit, HBO, 2016)

I could be off base here because I'm judging what I don't see but I reckon television viewing was on the decline in the later part of the last and beginning of this century. I've always had a weird feeling ever since Lost, and that something stinks about this manufactured so-called Golden Age of Television.

Just a monologue lol

I got access to the Showtime streaming app as well. Does it have the guy from The Wire in it? "The Affair" just looks and sounds like a day time soap opera.

I did watch Maz Jobrani's standup, though, and thought it was pretty funny.

so, this new game album kind of sucks a lot. it's funny seeing 2dopeboyz say the album is dope cause there's no way they actually think that. every description looks like it was written by a marketing specialist.

same with new jeezy and rick ross songs. there hasn't been a dope one in so long.

I gave up on The Muppets. Just watched one episode which was OK, but I'm not old enough where the cast was part of my childhood or some shit.

PuffnScruff, if you're reading this, fuck your fucking Cardinals.

We can go 0-4 from here on out, I don't care.

Best record doesn't mean shit!

Is Black Sails basically pirate Game of Thrones?

Still an interesting show. Obscure show on an obscure channel.

Black Sails is pretty good and Starz is no longer that obscure, everyone is watching Power. HBO is cancelling The Brink. The Grinder is getting a full season, but I don't care for it. Looks like The Player, Minority Report, and Blood & Oil are having their season reduced and cancelled. Not surprised but Player and Blood & Oil were decent. Dr. Ken's getting a full season. The Whispers won't be returning, thank you. Supergirl was okay, but not how I would do it. Limitless and Blindspot seem to be a success and got full seasons, good. Wicked City was alright.

I was upset about The Brink being cancelled. I thought it was really good and within a season or two would have the laughs that Veep and Silicon Valley currently get. I guess not. I know a lot of people are upset that it got cancelled. I just hope HBO has a comedy to replace it, although all they really have right now is comedies and then a drama like GoT. And then there's some new show in its first season still about the end of the world or something. Can't remember the name but it's got a good following as well.

I don't know how I hadn't heard of The Knick before. I figured it would be big among medical students, if no one else. But it's pretty good so far as well. I love the soundtrack, beginning with the first song they play in the very first episode. It's pretty neat and someone has made a playlist with all the songs on Spotify, so I'll check that out later.

Is Black Sails a rip off of GoT? Just with pirates? I still haven't given GoT the time of day in three years since I watched the first few episodes, but I feel the drama and the barbaric characters basically make it GoT on water and on a port. Doesn't bother me either way. Vane, or whatever that long haird guy's name is, is a pretty cool character. He played an odd role on Shameless before landing that Black Sails spot. Something-McGowan is the actor's name.

TV has kept me sane during my crunch time for studying. I usually watch two episodes of something a day while eating or taking a break, and usually Black Sails in bed at night. I really love their opening theme, which also draws some small parallels to GoT in both the music and the visuals as well.

Black Sails isn't a ripoff of GoT, it just uses the same formula. Same formula used for Reign, Marco Polo, Spartacus, The Bastard Executioner, The Last Kingdom, etc. Yeah, The Knick is a good show and a great soundtrack.

Does the NFL have a deal where they play one game a week in London? Feels like the past three weeks or a month there's been a game overseas.

It's good. I hope the UK folks like the game and understand what's going on and aren't expecting rugby instead.
