They know so much about us!

WTF? Life in America is much more complex then in other countries? If you don't want me 2 call you a stupid piece of shit, you gotta explain that boy.

1.No, it's because Americans don't care about the rest of the world. OF course there are excpetions, but in general it's true. I think it comes from that patriotism that became obsession. Kids in america are taught that they are on the top of the world. If you grow up and they play the national anthem before every sport event (nope it's not like this all over the world), if they hang their flags everywhere (in front of every other home - nope that ain't like that everywhere), etc etc etc.....kids are thaught that they live in the greatst nation in the world and one day, most of them believe it.

2. It has to do something with the school system. You can't finish school in Europe without knowin about other countries. I was thaught 4 languages (including Latin) and of course also the geography, history, etc of every country those languages are/were spoken in. For example my last exam in school (we gotta take a big one at the end) in English was to compare the school system in the US to the school system in England..... and I wasn't part of neigther system you know. We get taught those things, I doubt you get thaught in school in the US how the school system in Australia or Europe works, but you should be thaught those things - political system to social system and even school system, because it helps to understand your own system better and you can see the advantages and disadvantages....... it just opens up your mind a lil,you know the american way isn't the only way out there.

3 I think it has something to do with the size of the country. You can live you life in the US without leavin the country. You can go surfin in Folrida as well as go skiing in Aspen. It's different in Europe for example - Uk peeps might go to Swizerland for their skiing vacations, while the people in Swizerland have to go to Italy or France or whereever to see&enjoy the sea - so cause of the size it's more natural and also easier for people to leave the country and see new things.

@penny: If you'r stuck in your arrogance you'll never be able to overcome it, so it's good that your noticed your lack of knowledge on the rest of the world - now take the next step. Just listen&watch if they talk about other countries in the news or in school....and if you'r bored why not do a lil internet research on european history or whatever comes up in your mind. Believe me, you won't regret it.

Your post is crap when it comes to opposing my position. You wrote four paragraphs and did not disprove my point at all. I did not oppose any of the points you just made. I actually agree. However, life is more complex in America. Now, try to disprove that and I'll prove myself. I thought you were smarter than that.

funny thing is us Non-Americans know more about the U.S than alot of Americans do, have you ever watched jay-walking on jay leno? good God the people he talks to put a whole new meaning to stupidity, one time jay had a picture of colin powell and asked 10 americans who they think he is and 8 out 10 had no clue who the colin was, some dude thought he was johnny cochrane and another said he was uncle Phil from fresh pricnce of bel-air

George Bush? I used to be a huge supporter of him. But now look at what's happening to America. It may sound cold but I only care about My family and My friends. Oh and 2pacboard and it's members. --- Anyways, Dubya can go to hell.

My point still stands. You contradicted yourself and made yourself look like a fuckhead, actually. Name-calling is for the weak.

Nothing stands, what I said wasn't a contradiction and it made perfect sense. And the name-calling wasn't meant like THAT, it was just something I said, it wasn't meant to offend you. :thumb:

I don't know a single state/province in any other country. But people from other countries readily know a few US states and where they are. Canadians know President Bush, but does anyone know the Canadian President/King/Queen or whatever they have over there?

lol, that was funny :D

But what u said is so true! I know lots of things about the US, and I now that I think about it a little more, I wasn't taught any of that at school, I have no idea how I learned all that. It's like I was born knowing where the States are! But what if I asked u what's the most important city in my country? Or the name of our president? I talked to some people on msn who didn't even know in which continent it is!

Of course, I don't pretend everybody to know that stuff, but it's interesting to think about what we all learn about America, its history, politics, culture, etc, in our everyday life, without even noticing it!

I probably know as little about France, Germany, Spain, Portugal etc. as most Americans probably know about the UK. I couldn't name national leaders, political parties, national anthems or most of the other stuff I ask about in my thread.

How is life more complex in America? Can you explain what you mean..

And secondly, like its been said a million times, Americans in general are so caught up in the thinking that there is no world outside of America that they really believe it. People in other countries cant help but be bombarded by US media, US opinions, US leaders etc etc.. so that explains why so many know details about the American people, states, sports etc

On the other side i think a lot of countries are too humble towards the US, for example the Dutch leader who was humble and happy as a puppy when he came to visit Bush in the White House. And also the United Nations who were just screwed by Bush like they were nothing with the Iraq war.

Because most of them know that if they disagree with our president, a propaganda campaign will be launched to try and embarass the country in question into agreeing with us or our ideals.

France, for example...nobody had a problem with them until they decided not to help in our oil war, then all of a sudden the US media is making them out to be wimps and cowards and shit...well, not the mainstream media (or did they? I can't remember) but still..

uhmmm...I'm talking out of my ass. I'll leave now.

Of course, I'd consider Fox as mainstream..... but the thing is, whole europe laughed his ass off when they decided to change the name french fries into freedom fries. Really. All this makes Americans look soooo stupid. :)

Its because Americans think they are top shit and just dont care what happens elsewhere.

Its not like Amara or me or others only know whats where in the US, we generally know whats where everywhere. We just care more about the world on a global scale, where as Americans only care about the United States.
:thumb:
this thread only goes to show the level of ignorance in the united states..

You say that, but the name 'hot dog' came about the same way. Prior to World War I, Americans called them Frankfurters, but they changed the name when they went to war with Germany. And it stuck.

it's not about food, it's about the fact that U.S try to boycot everyone who don't agree with their 'freedom-principles'
