im hardly can classify myself as a lizard expert, but iv got a lizard hanging around my place and i know they are also long-lived but not as long as chelonians. Lizards have been known to live into their 20s and iguanas can live into their teens. There is even a report that a Mexican beaded lizard lived nearly 34 years in captivity. Many lizards can change color in response to their environments or in times of stress. Lizards typically feed on insects or rodents. A few species are omnivorous or herbivorous; a familiar example of the latter is the iguana, which is unable to properly digest animal protein. Only two lizard species are venomous: the Mexican beaded lizard and the closely-related Gila monster, both of which live in northern Mexico and the southwest United States. Neither of these poses much danger to humans, as their poison is introduced slowly by chewing, rather than injected as with poisonous snakes The most familiar example is the chameleon. So a good point to start is to identify the lizard in your house. The reptile with the shortest lifespan tends to be chameleons, which only live 1 to 3 years (more in captivity). As you learn more about lizards the quicker you will become adapted to living with one.
