Non-Urban Music The Official MICHAEL JACKSON thread

LOL at the year 2000 impression. In all fairness no one could have seen that coming with MJ. What year was that put out?

Come to think of it, humans did have some ambitious expectations for the year 2000. However, I do think that if all things stayed constant with MJ, that's a pretty good idea of what he may have looked like.

As had been previously speculated, it has now been confirmed that MJ did the music for the Sega game "Sonic 3"

peep this:

^^Nice. I'm not convinced about "who is it" tho. For the other songs mentioned the similarity its clear enough.

Yeah 'Who Is It' is too close to call.

I'm surprised I never noticed this shit myself, considering how much of a Sonic fan I was back then and an MJ fan.

Casey, I have a question for you about this song.

I personally think 'cheater' is under-rated (as in I don't hear any fans talk about it), along with 'streetwalker' but, thats another story.

Anyway, on the LP, this song is listed as a 'demo'. What does that mean and is there a finished version to the song? I think it sounds incredible for a 'demo'.

'Cheater' is incredible. I love that song too, and Streetwalker.

It's a demo in the sense that, had it been picked for the album, they likely would have touched it up a bit, maybe added more instrumentation or changed the arrangement, and mixed and mastered it. And no, there's no other version to it AFAIK.

I played 'Cheater' at a club once and people loved it!

Obviously he'd already gone through a major transformation by the point of that video in 1988, but I happen to think Michael looked the best at that time of his life.

I just shed tears again watching this beautiful official music video for "This Is It"....directed by Spike Lee.

Damn....I miss MJ so much.

I actually saw this video on a channel last week here in the UK. It's a different mix of the song, there's some additional instrumentation and a different ending.

Hilarious music fact..... 'Blame It On The Boogie' was originally written and recorded by a songwriter named..... MICK Jackson.

Written with Stevie Wonder in mind......as we all know, The Jacksons ended up covering it and turning it into an instant classic with their much funkier version.

^^Thanks for that info. I was only recently trying to find out the story behind it (a week ago) when I was sorting out my music collection.

Another question for you Casey: What was MJ's opinion on the 2pac vs Biggie beef? I mean Biggie featured on MJ's tracks......even posthumously :D

QDIII did mention trying to get MJ on a 2pac track but MJ didn't get back to him.

I think Michael had too many problems of his own in the mid 90's to care too much about that.

'Pac had made a disparaging comment about Michael at one point and therefore probably had no interest in working with him because of that although he certainly would have been aware of the connection through QD and Kidada.

Very cool interview with Michael in about 1978 or so, at the legendary Studio 54 club in NYC.

He's so young and clearly introverted here....I guess back at this time, nobody, not even Michael himself had any idea of what was to come.

^^Thats an interesting point to note. How can one tell what the future holds for them? You look at a lot of footage of great people in the past and, you ask yourself that question lots of times. There will never be another entertainer as great as MJ, I am sure of that.

Whoa, whats this thread doing all the way at the bottom?

When MJ appeared in MIB II who's idea was it? Was he approached or did he ask to be in the movie? It was hilarious when I saw that the first time.
