Film & TV The Official FM 2006 thread!!!

Got it on saturday and been playing since even though I have an exam to hand in tomorrow :p

Anyway, I'm currently managing Parma and I'm almost half-way of Serie A. I'm currently 8th in Serie A but it's really even cause the number 4 is only 4 p ahead of me. My mission is to grab the last CL-spot (meaning coming 4th).

I have a pretty average squad really and haven't bought anyone at all. I only got like 900 000 £ to spend on players  .

I've spotted some players I want in the future. Nuri Sahin, exceptional talent!!! Plays for Dortmund and he has a youth-contract which means i can get him but he won't come :(.

This thread is to talk about formations, players, talents, stories and all kind of stuff.

I'm currently using the 4-2-3-1 formation and it's really good!!

Got it Friday, and I've been switching between that and Pro Evo 5.

Playing as Madrid to get used to the new features, and I'm loving it. Bought Sanli Tuncay to solve my left wing problem and he's been a revelation. Bought Mexes too, but I still need to bolster my defence. Leaking too many goals.

Had my contract extended at the end of the first season, so I must be doing something right. Finished second behind Barcelona, by a handful of points.

In my game everyone wanted Tuncay at first. He ended at madrid I think...

Are you managin Real m or Atl?

What formation are you using?

Btw; I think they said that it is possible to make relationships to other clubs. like Man U and Sporting has. Anyone figuered it how?

don't you think that EA sports should disable the "restart game" option, and also they should implement a game mode where the game file saves every couple of seconds (doesnt take much energy or processing power) so that you can't even just turn the console off? i find myself not being very trying, because i know i can just restart the match. it would be much more fun knowing it REALLY IS a make it or break it situation..

I got it Monday. It seems the exact same as 2005 to me.Only a few little new things.I dont think im addicted to Football Manager like i was with the old Championship Manager games.I didnt play 2005 that much and im not really interested in 2006.With the old Champ. Manager's i was an addict.Maybe its cos im always playing Pro Evolution.

what are the best changes compared to 05?

i would play it more than PES5 but i dont have enough time :(
Training is much simplified, which is good because nobody understood it in '05.

Lots more interactions with players and the media, and now with physios (choosing whether to give a player an injection to get them through the next game at risk of long term injury etc.)

Tactically, you can now see in which positions a player can play, and how adept he is in each. Very useful, especially if you have a player injured or sent off in a match and you have to reshuffle your team.

Also:

Half-time team talks, allowing you to motivate poorly performing players and reinforce players who are doing well.

Manager contracts, meaning you'll have to do well to get offered a new contract. You can also use this to negotiate over transfer budget.

Quick tactics, which allows you to move players around and change team and individual instructions mid-match without having to stop the match and go into the main formations settings screen.

And pretty much everything already in the game has been improved or tweaked.

According to the official site, Football Manager 2006 is the second fastest selling game ever, so it can't be bad.

To the peeps that gave up on Manager.

I tried fm2005 and I didn't like it at all for multiple reasons but mainly cause I never got this "championship manager" feeling. I mean, it seemed so distanced and unreal. With Championship manager it was so close and it felt as if it was real you know. I also think those drastic changes killed it. Now, they have gone more to the CM-side, the only thing is that the game looks different in graphics but I can asure you that this game rocks!!

Before fm2006, I only played CM 01-02 which I loved so fecking much!!!

--------

I found some interesting players at boca whom I'm keeping an eye of. I'm currently 5th with 9 games to go. Milan is 4th with a 11p lead :(. Oh, Sampdoria has surprised everybody, they're second to Inter.

Whats the fun of you only watch players play instead you playing yourself?
The whole idea of the game is to step in the shoes of the manager. You pick the team, you buy and sell players, you build a trophy-winning team.

How many times have you looked at a team and thought "If I was manager, I'd do a much better job"? If you're an England fan, lots of times.

Well lets see. in managing you watch players play anyway they want to play. they do any tricks they want to do. they bass ball to anybody they want to pass to. they might not even be able to see the open man and miss him.its them-the computer. no matter how good of a player you bring in a team you still hoping he does well. all you do is sit there in front of the screen and bite your nails hope players do well because you're not in control of the players, computer is.
In playing mode, you play the way you wish to play. do whatever trick you wish. you pass ball to whoever and however. you score any kinda goal you want. you dribble as much as you want and however you want. this time destiny is in your own hands. you are in control of the players. when its a crucial situation like seconds are left and you wining by a goal you can kick the ball out of bounds and let time expire-who knows what can happen in managing mode. another words, in a big time, clutch, and crucial situations you be in charge not computer.
It wasn't all that hard to see comparison was it.
I'm not saying its all that bad idea to play this game but i'm saying its more fun when you're in charge of the players.

It's a managing sim, that's the positions managers are in, it's really not a complex concept.
