this many cd's is HEAVY! previous shevles (even metal) have warped or broken. i just swap out the lumber every 3 years and i'm good to go. otherwise things like this may happen...

i went to sleep at 3am and woke up at 4:30 thirsty. i went to the kitchen and stepped on a jewel case in the dark. lights on and this is what i saw. i had rebuilt the shelf earlier that evening with a friend and hadn't had the chance to bolt it to the wall yet. some catnip and a feline who likes her drugs and a slightly wobbly shelf is not a good combination. the old design had all my doubles and vinyl rips to cd-r included so it was twice as big, 150 cobblestone bricks that weighed 5 pounds each, and 16 feet long. when i move in august i'm just going to put everything in rubbermaid bins and stop playing this game.
