I guess Samuel L. Jackson will be the bad guy...and I guess they are still deciding the girl.
Rumor has it it might be Rihanna.

I am excited. :D

The article of it being remade:

Samuel L Jackson is stretching himself again. The Snakes on a Plane actor will play a badass gang leader in a remake of the 1985 cult classic The Last Dragon, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In a role which might have been written for the sharp-talking star of Pulp Fiction, Jackson will play Sho'nuff, the egotistical Shogun of Harlem, whose shtick involves asking his crew of thugs questions such as, "Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?" To which the answer is always: "Sho'nuff".

The new version of The Last Dragon will follow the plot of Berry Gordy's original, which sees a young martial artist travel the streets of New York in an effort to attain the highest possible level of fighting prowess, that of the Last Dragon. Get that good, and you're referred to as possessing the Glow, which we understand has nothing to do with the old Ready Brek adverts.

Kerry Gordy, son of Berry, will produce, alongside Dallas Jackson and Davis Entertainment's John Davis; RZA of the hip-hop crew Wu-Tang Clan is co-producing. "We're thrilled to be working with Kerry Gordy as he continues his father's legacy, and we're confident that he along with John and Dallas are the perfect team to develop the project," said Doug Belgrad of backing studio Columbia. "They will capture everything that people love about the original while also bringing a fresh edge to the remake."

The original Dragon, starring Prince protege Vanity and another single-named ingenue, Taimak, was a box-office hit in 1985, despite lukewarm reviews. So far there has been no other casting announcement for the remake apart from that of Jackson's role.

Rihanna could never in a million years live up to Vanity. Not a chance.
