Film & TV Star Wars: Return Of The Sith, my opinion

I didn't believe my eyes when I saw the end of the fight between Obi Wan & Anakin...I didn't expect it to end that way...

So what if people knew the ending? People knew the ending of Titanic and look how much that pulled in. Or are you telling me people were hoping the ship didnt sink? Passion of the Christ? Romeo & Juliet? Any historical movie in existence?

Come on now, we know the how, we know the what, when you put all that aside, the WHY is more entertaining and thought provoking. In the case of Star Wars, why would this geeky young boy turn into the greatest evil in the galaxy, what drove him to it and why? That is what this movie answers, and it does so rather well.

i just read something about this movie which must be the most "correct" opinion about this movie i have ever read:

For those don't like 1 and 2 at all, watch this movie and it will make you want to watch and appreciate ALL the films (not just 4-5-6). Again, the Star Wars story is about the life and death of Anakin Skywalker, not Luke, Leia, and Han in a weird love triangle with wacky hi-jinks. I think the video "Life Redeemed" on the Episode 3 music DVD hits this point hard. Yes, establishing politics and watching someone manipulate the system is boring, but they had to be shown eventually to explain why things are the way they are in Episode 4.

What is General Grievous? A Machine or a guy that became a machine like Darth Vader? If he's a machine why has he got a bad cough? And a heart??

griveous was a general of the confederacy who was injured. there's a cartoon series that aired on cartoon network that tells more about griveous. someone injured him, so the confederacy took his vital organs and put them in a mechanical body. he is part creature, part machine.

And why are all the other Jedi's so crap? In Ep2 and Ep3 so many 'so called' Jedi's died from the idiotic Light-Sabre-over-the-head-charge and get shot in the chest. Even Grievous went out this way, is it a Jedi tactic or something?

well when you're a jedi fighting bad robots with an army you believe to be your ally (the clones) and they suddenly turn on you.. i don't think most jedis expected their own army to kill them heh.

it was cool, i see alot of people hating on it and even more loving it. Im telling everyone now, you gotta see each starwars in set sequence to appreciate them all. before i went and saw episode 3 for the second time I watched episode 1 and 2, then saw episode 3 then came home and saw 4 to 6. everything connects so well with only the slightless of cracks here and there which when you think about it are irrelevant.

but one questions remains, from the time you meet annikan it's explained how he isn't born/concieved natrually. in episode 3 darth sidious/palpatine tells annikan about the legend of darth plaguies and how he could manipulate the force to create life and taught his apprentice the same skills/techniques before his apprentice obviously killed him off. his apprentice is no doubt sidious, as you can tell by his sudden grin right before he says "ironic, he could save others but couldn't save himself"..

is sidious/palpatine, annikans father? and was the entire saga or/and annikans life merely a part of the overall picture/plan in which sidious had created?

he lied. sith lords can not create life as in making someone pregnant. they can create life as in keeping themselves alive, keeping someone from dying. in the "ancient times" of star wars, as told in books and comics, siths would do this to keep themselves, and eachother alive.

Remember when the light saber duels were cool. I mean the tension was not only in the fighting, but often critical tidbits of information were given to us during the fight scenes. I mean the realationship between Obi-Wan and Vader, Luke learning Vader was his father, Vader finding out Luke had a sister...all of that was given to us in the fight scenes. The dialogue was key. Now it is just about one guy taking on someone with four light sabers. It becomes a little weak at times.

And what is up with the Jedi. We see them constantly feeling a tremor in the force when eveil is abound, yet none of the Jedi sense the evil around them just before they are killed. How did they ever maintain peace in the galaxy when they didn't know someone two feet from the wass trying to kill them. I mean Anakin and Obi-Wan sensed when Padme was being attacked.

To me Lucas demonstrates selective powers for the Jedi.

OK so Ani does it because Padme is going to die. The Emperor says that if he joins the Dark Side they can save her together. Then he goes to the Dark Side and the Emperor simply tells him that his hate had killed her. Sorry, Darth, you killed all yours friends and it didn't do any good. But still swear your allegiance to me. What? Are you kidding me? If Darth had all this rage, he should have whipped out a light saber right there and went at it with the Emperor. Only five minutes earlier he told Padme he could kill him and they would rule the Universe together. LOL which is it?

Do not get me wrong its a gr8 story and graphics were outstanding but Lucas did things that seemed weird and made no sense. I mean he had 20 yrs to lay out the story and make it fit.

the reason why the jedis can't sense what's wrong is that the dark side puts a "cloud" over their "vision". and the reason why anakin/vader doesn't kill the emperor is he has respect for his master. that's why in the old movies anakin doesn't try to overthrow the emperor or kill him in his sleep lol. he's loyal. face it, even though anakin had the potential to become the most powerful jedi ever, he was so mentally ill. he was so easy-manipulative. there was indeed something good in him because he wasn't decietful like the emperor and the earlier sith lords ("kill your father and take his place by my side, luke")

a cool thing that i learnt is that before anakin had his shit cut off at the end of the new movie he was like 80% of what the emperor had wanted, and after he lost his legs and was burnt alive, he dropped to about 50-60%. that's why he wants luke to kill his father in return of the jedi.

Here's a little known fact about the OG Star Wars trilogy: When George Lucas made the first Star Wars, he chose to put all credits at the end of the film. This enraged the director's guild, but they let it slide. However, when he made The Empire Strikes Back, he chose to do the same thing and run all credits at the end of the film. The director's guild didn't let it slide this time and they fined him $2.5 million. This made Lucas so mad he quit the director's guild and decided to make the third film without the director's guild. Unfortunately, because he was no longer in the guild, he couldn't use any directors who were members of the guild, which meant he couldn't use his first choice of director for Return Of The Jedi: Steven Speilberg. That would have been crazy if Speilberg directed Jedi, it probably would have been my favorite one instead of Empire.

Was the director Irvin Kershner in the DGA, he directed Empire, and I thought he should have done Jedi. It's known that Lucas the person who directed Jedi were always fighting and arguing during the entire shoot.

Yea I can see what u mean , it makes sense he was still young and dumb. Saying a bunch of things that he can not back up .

He dies because he got shocked too and i guess his body is mostly a robot got shocked too. I dont think he needs him to acctually live.

I sometimes think if Lucas re made 4-6 he could do so many things different . It seemed like he couldnt do everything he wanted to back in the 70s and 80s. If u look at the Lightsaber fight compaired to the recent ones , the Jedis look that much more incredible. The old ones seem just as they r swing sticks almost . They are still good but im syaing because of the lack of technology , he couldnt put down the full image he had in his head.

ok a few question i got for u star head peeps. yo hmm i got the vibe that yoda knew all along anakin would become vader and jsut sacraficed him it like everytime soemthing plays out htat way yoda expected him made some facial gesture. in episode 1 he sense anakin fear and hate and all and still let him be i think yoda knew he would become vader and eventually kill sidious . the way he did

The thing that impressed me most was how well that he was able to pull the two trilogies together. Everything seemed to fit perfectly.
