Some American classics (mustangs) I'm considering...

If you want a Mustang the old fastback is always a better choice, but i'd stick with an Impala, or better yet a 67 Monte Carlo. It's the car in training day if you don't know.

the car in training day was a 78 monte carlo. IMO id go with the fast back. they are light, sleeker looking, smaller. my grandfather has a 68 notchback and that thing is fun to drive (i was only 15 though when i drove it last year lol ;)). it has a 289 engine making around 270bhp. its auto but has great response and looks beautiful. the 70s mustangs were ok but not my cup of tea. too big and heavy.

^^i knew that, i think i put 67 cus i just looked at an 67 mustang on autotrader, but thanks.

Yeah I prefer the older mustang too. But there wasn't any on ebay.co.uk.

I can wait. I haven't decided yet though. Impala, Charger or Mustang. Waiting to see what turns up.

Colour is changeable.

It's too bad you only get auto boxes, though. Although i can't really imagine 60/70 US made transmissions were really smooth (:D) i still have the feeling that if you got one of those classic muscle cars, you wanna decide the gearing.

But eh cant have it all, eh. And the second Mustang is definitely the better. Older ones pwn 1970+. Didnt run that many miles either fur such an old car.

68 Coupe. It's a preference, but it's costs more. How much you willing to spend though?

Dunno. I got $20K in the bank. So I really only want to lay out that much to start with. And a few K on upgrades every 6 months.

I got loads of other things I'm spending money on at the moment. Motorbike, my daily car needs a service and that costs over $1K, I need some new speakers for my bedroom, I'm reducing the length of my Mortgage, I have a stag do to go on, And a $14K trip across America. I could go on but you get the point. Damn I'm gonna be skint.

Life's hard Pitts :D

but for real, do some counting. see how the Prezzie stacks up against a TDI in daily use. even though you'd have to sell it for low low low price, you ought to be able to get a decent diesel day to day driver. weight it up, costs etc, balances. it might turn out a good dot cheaper.

after all, a 2 litre heavy charged engine doesnt sound like your ideal day to day car.

or you gotta set your priorities: what first? US trip? or dope car?

yeah the gear is definetly important, especially on autos. for an auto id get 3.55 for cruising and everday driving. or a 3.73 if you are going to be pushing her hard often. my grandfather has his old mustang with an auto and 3.73 and its smooth and good performance wise

I've gotta go on the US trip. It's been booked for months. I've paid for most of it.

And the only thing is... Even though my Impreza is only 270 bhp now, it's still quick. 0-60 mph in 4.8secs. So I enjoy the speed and the handling. A TDi would be boring.

So although it costs a lot. Hopefully it'll all work out OK.

And it's a weekend car. So I guess I have to be patient. Something I'm not good at. Until I find the car I want.

The one you posted was a V6. That's okay if its a convertible weekend cruiser, but when you get a hardtop, more mean looking 'Stang, a V8 is mandatory if you can find one. :D
