My impressions so far -

I have only played with it a little bit, and my sim isn't active until Monday as I am porting my old number over... But ... Here are my first impressions -

Android - I am a fan. I have been won over. It is better that the IOS.

The phone - Very quick and very smooth so far. Loving the screen. My 720 rip of The A-Team looks amazing.

Apps - Got a load. One's that aren't available on Iphone. Still working on getting all the functionality I had on my iphone onto the Samsung. But I'm sure I'll get there.

you will get there. are you using wi-fi?

also get beebplayer - its a third party bbc iplayer (unofficial). the benefit is that you can stream content without having to be on 3 mobile or vodafone networks. only those two were contracted to do so, and other providers' customers have to use wi-fi... not with beebplayer you dont... its great, because im on t-mobile.

just out of interest, what network did you get yours on and what tariff?

sky news is good, and so is google news and weather.

Yeah, using wifi as my sim isn't ready yet, anyway.

I am on Voda. I am on the £40 tarrif. 600 mins. Ultd texts. 1 GB data. But I get it for £28 as I got a discount.

Welcome to your new android family - take off your shoes, grab a beer ... it's all smooth sailing from here friend.

Edit: BTW - how's the battery life?

thats an ewxcellent deal!! is that through a friend, or a customer loyalty bonus? because im thinking of sticking with t-mobile, only if its worth getting the bonus. by the time my first t-mobile contract runs out in december, i'll have been with them for 18 months if that'll get me any discount if i upgrade with them... who knows, i'll have to negotiate. figners crossed the pro version comes to the uk.

Check out Google Goggles (Visual Search) from the Market when you get a chance.

For me, it's the incredible notification system and tight Google integration (Maps, YouTube, GTalk, etc) that make Android the superior platform. There are other reasons too, like hardware selection etc. But those are the main ones.

I heard a rumor that the Galaxy S can do video out via the 3.5mm headset port. That is pretty awesome if true.

first impressions just from looking at it as i am yet to turn it on. its pretty sexy, better than most girls i see around grovedale.

so assuming i can watch porn on it, no need to ever have a girlfriend

1GB Data? Wtf, I get 10gb with Tmobile for £40, and I think its the same regardless what plan u have.

Wow I envy you guys. On a normal plan I can purchase only 25mb of data for 5 bucks lol.
To have more for cheaper I'd have to buy an internet-only plan.

Our data plan on VZW is $29.99 for unlimited data. I heard about implementations of a tiered-data plan which is ok. I use about 200MB a month and if I can get that much for like..$10..$15..I'd be ok paying half the price I pay now. My bill is $100 for 450 minutes and unlimited data and text. Quite a bit.

mines $59 for 1 gig of data, 450 mins of voice calls and unlimited sms/mms. also facebook, youtube, twitter, google maps doesn't count in your data allowance, thats all free

US has the shittiest plans when it cell phones. They all suck dick and rape you on prices.

10GB? im on t-mobile and on an unlimited plan. but thats actually around 1GB-2GBs worth.

£35 a month with 800 mins, unlimited texts.

How much does data tack on to the 35?
