MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - If Minnesota Vikings owner Red McCombs has his way, Joe Buck will not be announcing his team's NFC Divisional playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
Coming to the defense of controversial wide receiver Randy Moss, McCombs requested to Fox on Wednesday that Buck, the network's lead NFL play-by-play announcer, be removed from Sunday's broadcast.
After catching a 34-yard touchdown pass in a 31-17 wild card victory at Green Bay, Moss bent over while pretending to pull down his pants and moon the crowd at Lambeau Field. He has yet to be fined by the NFL.
Immediately following Moss' celebration, Buck instantly reacted, saying, "That's a disgusting act by Randy Moss, and it's unfortunate we had to air it live."
Fox replayed Moss' antics on its postgame show, where studio host James Brown called it "classless, ignorant and embarrassing."
McCombs said Wednesday that Buck's comments on Moss suggested a prejudice that surpassed objective reporting.
It was the latest incident for Moss, who also made news in the regular-season finale at Washington when he walked off the field with two seconds remaining and the Vikings attempting an onside kick.
