Film & TV Ricky Gervais' Extras Debuts Tonight

#1
Just as the title says, tonight Ricky Gervais' new show will debut on BBC 2 at 9pm.

Gervais stars as film & TV extra Andy Millman & the show is set to be littered with stars.

The debut episode tonight has an appearance from Ben Stiller.

The second episode has Ross Kemp, the third Kate Winslet, the fourth Les Dennis & the fifth Samuel L. Jackson.

Gervais is a fucking genius so I expect Extras to be great!

Personally I can see it being a bit of a disappointment after The Office, but I'll be watching. Catherine Tate's new series starts afterwards, so a good hour of comedy.

Illuminattile, it'll only be a disappointment if people go into it expecting to see another The Office type shit.

If people come at it with a fresh outlook I'm sure it'll be hilarious.

And Gervais was funny as fuck on Richard & Judy yesterday.

So the first episode has just finished.

It was ok. There were some funny bits but, on the whole, it moved quite slow.

Best line was Stiller's, "Will you stop going on about your fucking dead wife?!" lmao :D

Started off badly, but it got better and there were some good moments.

The stuff with Gervais was good. I was worried about the way he described his character in interviews, but I like it. He's more quick-witted, he makes jokes. It worked, I think. He still has some Brent in him too, like the 'yellow' thing. I liked his argument with Stiller at the end.

The Maggie character, though, I didn't like. I thought a lot of the stuff she was involved in was weak.

It's more of a sitcom, and some of the jokes were standard Sitcom For Dummies stuff, which was annoying, but a lot of it was funny. Gervais' performance was very good too, as was Stiller's.

It's got some relatively bad reviews so far, and I can see why, but it's definitely not a bad show. If it had come before The Office it would be getting much better reviews.

Cathertine Tate was pretty good, except for the Ginger thing which was obvious and overplayed. I liked Absolute Power, I hadn't seen it before. It's clever.

I prefer the schoolgirl. "Am I bothered though?" Could get old quick though.

As for extras, I only laughed twice. Once for the dead wife joke picked out above. And once for the ....

Stiller - Who am I
Gervais - I dunno Starsky or Hutch I can never tell the difference
Stiller - Was that supposed to be funny?
Gervais - I dunno, You were in it.

Honestly, my nan is just like that, except for the swearing.
As long as she gives you money though, that's the important thing.

My Grandad is worse than that actually. Add racists & bigoted comments to the swearing & imagine the Nan doing that 24/7, 365 for the past couple of decades & you've got my Grandad.

Yeah, that was funny. Good comedic timing & vocal expression from both of them.
