Again, I speak as someone ignorant to politics but you don't think the Dems have shot themselves in the ass since 2016 by shoe horning their nominees in? HRC was very qualified but there was some butthurt over them trying to bury Bernie in favor of her, if I remember correctly.
2020, they trotted out Biden and I don't remember many other challengers to Biden, other than Harris, who eventually became his VP.
And then this year Biden gets the hook kind of unexpectedly, Harris gets thrown in, and we don't see any other challengers for the nominee in the process.
When was the last time there was a battle for the Democratic nomination? A "fair" one where voters can say "ah, Bernie didn't win the nominee, but at least all candidates were given a fair shot in the process?"
Trump can get away with it. He's strong-armed his way to three straight nominations. Dems couldn't play that game because they don't cater to retards who fall for a fake persona. But instead of playing a smarter game, they played a different-but-still-retarded game where they don't allow the nominee process to play out where their potential voters can get a feel for all candidates, in case their favorite candidate is not the nominee.
I don't know if what I said makes sense, but basically both parties trotted out one option each and voters were forced to choose between the two. I know, that's how elections work, you have a party nominee and they face off. It feels like the Dems skipped all the other steps leading up to choosing a nomination and that left voters, rightfully, ignorant to the party's goals and visions for the future.
I think some Dem voters voted for the party and others wanted a change and went ol' Donnie boy.
