Very, VERY disappointing. Something happened during the Californication sessions, and has carried over into the band's last two records. The Peppers have lost their edge. I'm not hating, it happens to every band eventually, but a band like the Peppers can't survive with 20+ out of 28 tracks of EXTREMELY subdued music, not to mention I don't like double records anyway, so 28 tracks is too much to sift through. I'm not knocking them for making mellow tracks, but there's a difference between "Under the Bridge", "My Friends", "Scar Tissue", and whatever they're doing on this record.
That being said, I do like "Desecration Smile" a lot.
