R.I.P Pope John Paul II

Just like to say RIP to Pope John Paul II, a great man... a great religious leader and beyond, an example of what we can be if we strive to that extent.... he is definately in a better place, yes he was sick... the reason people are so upset about the loss is because of the good he did for the world, his integrity.. and his will to fight.. and fight for us.. of all races, and religious beliefs.. they mourn his presence.. not his departure.

Second... i'd just like to say about that tupac quote.. first off... u cant just apply a tupac quote to anything like .. especially like this.. its not suitable.. n im sure if pac were alive today he would withdraw the comment with the demise of the pope...

third.. i think its incredably disrespectful.. for people to turn this thread into a tupac thread... tupac is seen as a great leader yes.... but the fact is... the pope was called upon by God, and HE was a GREAT leader.. to the entire world.. people dont realise the extent that things have changed because of him... all over the world..

So just have a bit of respect.. even if ur athiest.. or whatever.. just respect that a man died, and all he ever did was try to make the world a better place for people like you and me.

RIP Pope John Paul II.

I'll miss the Pope because he was a great man, and such a shining beacon of freedom against oppression for everyone around the world, whether the Eastern Europeans and Poles in particular after he almost single handedly started the political downfall of the Communist Regimes. Or for Latin America because of all his visits to Mexico and Cuba when Religions were being persecuted at the time. Or all the good he did in reconciliation and unity between Christians, Jews and Muslims.

Karol Wojtyla was a great man, John Paul II was a great leader who taught by example, tolerance and respect. A lot of people in the world could take a leaf from his book on how to act, and certainly several people in here.

The Pope was loved by people from every faith in the world, he crossed boundaries and borders and united everyone he came in contact with.

The world will miss him, but he is in a better place now.
Thank you, Rukas.

I'm probably one of the few Catholics on here, and even though (almost) everyone on here seems to be showing John Paul II respect (to which I am grateful), his death hits me especially hard, so it's nice to see someone stand up for him and give him more than a simple "R.I.P.".

John Paul II will go down as one of the greatest men in the history of this planet. Whereas many Popes have unofurtanetly ruled by greed or simply did not push themselves to their limits, John Paul II took it upon himself to travel the world and confront the problems personally. He deserves the utmost respect.

May God be with you.

R.I.P Pope John Paul II, you were a truly great man, and possibly the greatest Pope in the 2000 year history of the church.

He was not in the usual "mould" of Pope's and every future Pope will aspire to be like him, he truly was the peoples Pope and he showed the world that the Pope isn't just a figurehead for the catholic church, but that he has practical use as well.

John Paul II united religions, almost single-handedly destroyed the communist regime!

A great servant of God has been taken home!
