Just curious as to everyone's view on this. I think this is going to be long so forgive me.
A few weeks ago at the club I noticed a new bartender at one of the bars in it. Realizing he was someone I played soccer (football for Eurofags) with for like 10 years of my life. I knew this kid since I was 6 or 7 up until it was time for the team to disband for college. Anyway, long story short, I went over to him , pulled up my stunner shades (lolthx) so he'd recognize me after 6 years, which he did. I talked to him for a few mins, got my beer from him and went back to the dance floor. The next time I saw him there, he gave me drinks on him. I thought it was nice. And I tipped him like 5$ for two free beers. When I left the club that night I felt really bad because I'm very appreciative of people who are generous to me. I wasn't sure if I tipped enough for two free beers. I thought about this for a week until I went tonight and saw him.
Before I continue with this story, I must explain the layout of the place. It's 5 stories with different themes on each floor (it is huge because of it's proximity to XM headquarters. Artists tend to make a concert out of a night after being at XM). I arrived extra early because Beyonce was going to be there tonight. I don't care to see her, I just want to go to the club. I knew it'd be packed. Regardless, I was there a bit early so I couldn't access the second floor yet (which is hip hop). I see my man guarding the door so no one could get in. I walk up to him shake his hand and tell him what's up n shit. I was under the impression he really didn't care. Damn I was mad like a gay fag because I thought it was because I didn't tip well when I pretty much took money out of his pocket when he gave me free drinks (this is true right?).
So for the important part of this thread. I am absolutely horrible at gauging what's proper to tip at a bar. When the second floor opened, I went up to him and got a beer for myself and a Red Bull for my friend. For a moment, I was wondering if he was going to tell me if it was on me. No. He tells me it's $9.00. I figured such would be the case. I gave him a $20 and $11.00 was his tip for that. Needless to say, he was quite happy about that. But the fact remains, I am horrible at gauging what's right to tip. So what do you tip at the bar usually? I feel like I never tip too little. When I go to the bar I usually just get one beer for me and tip $2.00 each time. On a given night I may get 10 beers so that adds up. But tonight, one girl was so beautiful I wanted her attention so I was tipping her $5.00 with every beer I got. And I did get her attention and her number. kthx
