I was playing last night online. you know the achievement for winning 5 ranked games in a row. Its very hard to get because there is alot of good players out there and then there is the lag problem with this stupid game. anyway, i won 4 games in a row. Then in the 5th i took an early lead. I totally dominated the game but couldnt add to my single goal. Then the fucker equalized at the end. This game will drive me insane.

Thats like a real life situation lol, how many times does a team dominate then fuck it up at the end.

I still like this game, I don't play online as I never really like the online gaming, BAL is still pretty addictive. Although I play for Newcastle and Duff and Martins don't pass the ball. EVER.

^^nah man, i think this game is a disgrace especially if you consider how great PES was.

This is 2 years in a row that Konami has released an unfinished product. Online play is full of glitches and has problems with lag like PES 2008. The gameplay sucks. it doesnt resemble real football imo. The AI is shocking especially in Become a legend mode. As you said there, Duff and Martins never pass.It was like this when i played at Napoli and Inter in my game. Maggio could never pass and kept giving the ball away and Suazo is the same a Inter.And why the fuck is Suazo still at Inter anyway? Its the same plays over again. your team-mates dont seem to be able to pass the ball at angle when you make a run in behind them and they have their back facing you.Then there are situations when you are free in the box and the ball is out at the side with one of your team-mates and they wont cross it to you and end up losing it. I am at Inter Milan in my game. I started off at Napoli and scored a shit load of goals as and attacking midfielder. but for some reason i keep getting subbed at the same point in every game.At Napoli it was after 70 minutes and now as Inter i usually get subbed at 80 minutes. At Inter i won everything in my first season (i am playing on regular btw) and finished top scorer. I had scored 2 goals and was MOM in a league game against Lazio. The next game was against Man Utd in the European Cup final, and im dropped to the bench even though i am by far the teams best player and top scorer. What kind of bullshit is that? Is it because my player is a little tired? Its things like this that make it so unrealistic.
THe master league is addictive as always especially if you start with those shit players like Valeny and Dodo, but players are fatigued after every game so you have to keep resting them which again is unrealistic.
The transfers are not fully updated although they have a patch out to fix that but why werent they updated right before the game was released?
The controls are awful. To do special skills like the 360 turn, you use the left analog stick. This is so annoying because its very easy to do these skills by accident while you are running with the ball. In pro evo 2008, you used the right analog stick to do special skills. Why did they change it? As i said before AI is terrible. Players make stupid runs off the ball. Half the time the pass never goes where you intended. Chipped passes look stupid. Shooting is very hit and miss as well.It doesnt seem to matter what direction you have the analog stick pointing. The keepers are all the time fumbling shots. Sometimes the players dont even respond to the button you press (especially true online)

People should boycott next years release unless there is a drastic improvement or they just release and updated version of Pro Evolution 4 or 5 with with better graphics.Why they cant just do that is beyond me. . I got FIFA 09 last week. it looks alot more realistic than PES 2009 and gameplay is much better than PES 2009 as well.

The AI on my BAL game is fine :thumb: I get good enough passes from the rest of the players excluding the ball hogs. Btw you have to play BAL on Professional for the AI to even itself out.

You may of been dropped because you may of had an purple arrow, you will regurlary get subbed off when you are in your teens and at about 21-22, I never got subbed of in my previous BAL after I was about 24 and at Man Utd. Only subbed when I ran myself into the ground I seriously have had no problems with BAL mode.

Players have passed me the ball at an angle, at Benfica when they bought Guti he always played through balls and passed at an angle so I could run on to them, even Geremi is doing it for me at Newcastle.

PES never have updated transfers lol, I think last season or PES6 had updated transfers for the first time ever.

And I have no problems with the new skill buttons either, at first I did but I'm used to it now and I never do any by accident.

I had FIFA 09, I thought the game sucked, although it is better than last years, it doesn't seem fluid enough for me and I hate the "tackling" on the game.

I dont care about the online game so I dont know much about it.

I did play it on professional in my first two seasons. i did ok but i want my player to be a superstar fast lol. I have seen defenders walking the ball into their own goal and they alway seem to boot it out for a throw even when their is a clear pass on.

Yea i understand that but that isnt realistic. Are Barcelona gonna drop Messi for the champions league final because he is a small bit tired? BAL is ok but their is a lot of annoyances like this in it.

But a football simulation should have the most up to date transfer. How hard is it to do? I understand that previous PES games were like this but no one cared because the game was so good but now it sucks.


Maybe its different on the PS3 but im not the only one complaining about how special skills are executed. It was easier to by using the right analog stick. why change that?

imo FIFA 09 feels alot more like real football than PES 2009. The ball moves around more realisticly. Shooting and passing are much more realistic as well. Im not one of those FIFA fanboys either who buys FIFA every year. PES was always my game. FIFA 2009 is the first FIFA i have bought since FIFA 2003. This time i have to admit that FIFA is the better game.

Online play is great fun. Almost every next-gen game has good online multiplayer. Why doesnt PES? They had a year to fix it and they didnt.

Basically they updated PES 2008 slightly. tweaked the gameplay a bit (slowed it down) and improved the graphics slightly and added BAL mode. All the problems and annoyances from PES 2008 are still there. I cant defend it anymore.

Heres another annoyance to add to the list. I made another go at getting that 5 wins in a row achievement today. I won 3 games narrowly but in the other two i was thrashing my opponent ( i think i was 3-0 up in both games). But of course, 9 times out of 10 when you are kicking your opponent ass, they will quit the game and you get a default 3-0 win. I think that these default victories dont count towards the 5 wins in a row so i still didnt get the achievement lol. Id say its impossible to get tbh. Most people quit when they are getting hammered. Then you have lag to contend with as well and superman footballer Wayne Rooney . and then their is the achievement for winning 75 % of your last 20 ranked matches. i reckon that is impossible, unless you play someone you know and they let you beat them for 15 games.

Either thats the reason i didnt get that achievement or there is a problem with unlocking achievements too. I noticed that the achievement for making your champions league debut is still unlocked in my game even though i have played and won the champions league. I have the achievement for winning the Champions League unlocked. wtf is that about? Probably yet another glitch in the game.

Go on PESFAN.com. You can play against people who don't quit :thumb: The online quitters is a reason why I don't like playing online.

The BAL mode isn't perfect I know, but theres more positives than negatives.

There are people who have done at achievment lol, play against people who you can trust, hence join the pesfan site all of them are reliable players who won't just pick Barcelona/InterMilan/Man Utd.

The analogue stick on the XBOX360 I never can get used to, so its easier for me to do skills on the PS3 then the xbox.

If you want your player to be a superstar quick, well thats the problem. BAL is mainly about patience, it took me about 5-6 seasons until I could really play well, then I ended up at Man Utd and won the World Player of the year (you get a cool cut scene with a ceremony ) But if you want to be a star right away get it on the PC, you can manually edit your BAL stats on that lol.

And this isnt a FIFA v PRO thing as I think both should be alot better than they are currently.

I disagree. I think EA Sports have really stepped up their game with FIFA 09. They have delivered an excellent all round football game. Konami seem to think that people will buy PES because of brand recognition which seems to be true. People buy the game and even defend its mediocrity despite its numerous shortcomings. The fact of the matter is that Konami have released a faulty product yet again. Im sure they got numerous complaints about PES 2008. They dont seem to have listened to them. Thats why, unless PES 2010 is a drastically improved game, people should stay clear.

well i tried and there are parts of the game i do enjoy but when players start disappearing and re-appearing on the screen in online play, it is rather annoying.

if i had to rate this game id give it 5/10.
