Militant, my man, I think that you kind of missed to specify a point for this poll. I mean, what are we looking for? Are we looking for the most talented artist/group? Are we looking for the best entertainer? Are we looking for who made the most impact in the music scene? You know, there's something to say for all three these choices. Prince because of his enormous body of work, originality and varied styles. Marley for bringing reggea to the masses and making dope ass tunes. The Clash as one of the founders for an entirely new style of music.

In the end I went with Marley because he put reggea on the map almost single handedly. But like I said, depending on the criteria you use, there's something to say for any of these choices.

That's exactly my point Duke. These aren't my polls, they are Illuminattile's.

If I had done these polls I would have made it very clear what the criteria was to decide upon, I think you can either do it on musical talent or cultural impact but not both.

Of course Bob Marley, I don't care how well Prince play the guitar or the piano, Bob Marley is like Tupac, someone else might be technically better but with Bob you feel every word he say. Bob Marley knew how to make a song with a deep message that still appealed to most people, and for that he'll always be better than 99% of the artists out there.

In your opinion.

An intelligent man does not attempt to glorify someone by demeaning another. Especially someone that in no way needs it. You don't have to 'sell' Bob to me. His wife Rita is a close family friend, and my cousins were the first non-jamaican producers to be invited to record at Bob's Tuff Gong studio, since they had been signed to Island Records by the very same person that propelled Bob to stardom - Chris Blackwell.

What you don't seem to realize is that Prince's contribution to rock and r'n'b matches Bob's contribution to reggae. In fact, Bob's management saw Prince as a genius and wanted them to work together - Bob loved his music......but then when they met after Prince played a gig in New York, Bob couldn't get past Prince's appearance and was totally freaked out, rofl.

I didn't demean anyone, you annoyed me with your constant Prince worshipping and I took it out on Prince since I knew that would get to you.

Edit: Why did you edit my post? Stop acting like a child, there's no rule saying I cant't cuss in the same sentence as Princes name. Get off his dick, you wanna worship him, that's fine, but don't censor peoples posts so they can't say anything bad about him. that's just retarded.

I knew that. But anyone else reading your post would take it as unnecessary slating and it therefore weakened your argument for Bob since you made it look like you had to bring down one artist in order to make another look better, which is childish, and makes it seem like you are unable to intellectually express and debate your own viewpoints with others.

What does it matter to you if Prince is my favorite musician? You speak as if I act like every other musician in the world sucks ass.

We use intelligent debate and critique of music in this forum. Unnecessary flaming and pointless use of language towards ANY artist is not allowed. You ain't gonna come in here with an attitude problem, Shahin.

You wanna talk about how you "don't give a flying fuck" about this, that, or the other - then take it to Our Block. Your point still came across exactly the same - if anyone came in here and say "I don't give a flying fuck" I would change it to "I don't care", just like I did with yours - and have done so in the past. Don't try and twist this into something it's blatantly not. I have never censored anyone for saying something bad about any artist, and I haven't censored you. But as I've said - I will not tolerate unnecessary obscenities here in any context - just as Duke wouldn't in Words of Wisdom.

You want to kick up a fuss and claim I'm censoring you, or anyone? Gather some evidence and take it to the admins.

Saying "I don't give a flying fuck how well Prince plays the guitar" is hardly flaming him now is it? If curse words are for some strange reason banned from this part of the forum, cool ten you did your job. Personally I think you got offended cus something remotely negative was said about Prince, either way I don't really give a flying fuck.

Peace I'm out.

Yes, completely unnecessary curse words towards any artists are discouraged here. I would have done the same had you said that about any of those artists.
