A U.S. police department has denied reports it has made a major breakthrough in the homicide of rapper T.I.’s personal assistant.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced the Cincinnati Police Department in Ohio were close to arresting a suspect believed to have killed T.I.’s aide Philant Johnson.

The 25-year-old was murdered in a shootout involving the hip-hop star’s entourage in May 2006.

But while officials are unable to provide additional details in the ongoing investigation, they have refuted rumors there is a warrant out for a suspect’s arrest.

Public Information Commander Lieutenant Mark Briede tells sources, "There have been no arrests in this case and there are no warrants pending."

"We’ve heard that Atlanta (Georgia) radio is reporting it and we’ve gotten several calls about this. But we know nothing about it."
