MIAMI - A federal air marshal opened fire on board an American Airlines flight on the ground at Miami International Airport, according to a law enforcement official who spoke only on condition of anonymity.

At least one person was wounded, according to broadcast reports said. The plane had just arrived from Colombia and was headed to Orlando. Television showed police SWAT officers surrounding the plane.

Airport and Miami-Dade County police officials said they had no immediate comment. Airlines officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

According to American Airlines' Web site, Flight 924 arrived from Medellin at 12:16 p.m. It was supposed to depart for Orlando at 2:18 p.m. The site says the flight status is delayed.

Television images from the scene showed armed officers taking up positions around the plane. MSNBC reported that the shooting took place on the jet bridge, between the plane and the terminal.

This shit is live on the news right now!:woah:

they are saying that he was a 44 year old u.s. citizen. one of the passengers was telling her account of the events on msnbc. she said the man was arguing with his wife. the wife said he is off his meds. sad, if this is true and he didnt really have a bomb, but i'm glad to know these air marshalls know how to do their job.

everyone can learn from this guys dumb actions. dont run up and down an international flight, or any flight for that matter, and say you have a bomb on board.

...................I have a bomb.

*gets shot*

Anyways, when my friend was flying a couple of months ago, there was a dude on the plane that had his family die in a car accident and was just bawling. He kept saying how he was going to bomb the plane, and stuff. Anyways, they landed the plane and arrested the man. Point of story, they didn't kill him.

He didn't say he had a bomb and go reaching in his bag for what they could only assume was the bomb did he?. I think the marshalls did the right thing here. If he didn't have a bomb he shouldnt have fucked around about it. I do not know the full story but from what I gather it sounds like they wanted to take him without shooting but he went reaching for something. What were they suppose to do? Wait for the bomb to go off and arrest a dead man?

It was an unfortunate situation. Even if the law does permit what they did, I don't believe it was the right choice. It's a hit and miss. In the last two "media" cases, it was a miss. This summer, in Britain, when they shot an innocent man, and now this. That's 0 for 2, that I know of.

So what you are saying is that they should have gambled and let the man get into his bag? What if it was a bomb like he claimed? Then people would be saying that the marshall's were not doing their job and that TSA and the government needs to step up security and this would turn into Bush's fault.

Had the marshall done nothing and the guy had a bomb, a shitload more people would've been dead.

If you don't want to get shot for possibly having a bomb, don't say you have a bomb. Simple.

What tickles my curiousity, is that no terrorist with the intention of blowing up an airplane, would actually come out and say he'd have a bomb.

Still shouldn't say you have one though.

it remembers me the 2 brazilian dudes who got arrested cause they said they had a bomb with them when the US Costums was gonna open their bags.

Some said it was a joke, but I heard they picked the wrong word, cause in portugues, a "bomb" can be the same as "pump" in english, so they had this air pump to make surfboards
dumb ass dudes

they got like more then 3 months in jail and had to pay a 30.000 dollars fine each, if I remeber it right
