I stopped watching after Best Doc., 'Pac got a LOT of love for simply being a nominee by the crowd, IMO, but looking back at it, he had NO chance of winning, he was never liked by the upper-establishment, and I'm sure it caused them a little discomfort to even give this movie the time of day.

Other than that, I looked over the nominees, and pretty much disagreed with 99% of them, regardless of who wins, plenty of other people should have (or should not have) been nominated, IMO:

Should not have been nominated: Clint Eastwood (actor), Alan Alda (supp.), Catalina Moreno (actress), Imelda Staunton (actress), Vera Drake (directing), Shrek 2 (original song), and Jamie Foxx (supp., Collateral, but SHOULD win Best Actor for Ray)

Should have been nominated:
Denzel (actor, Manchurian Canidate),
Bill Murray (actor, Life Aquatic),
Uma Thurman (actress, Kill Bill 2, biggest omission, IMO),
Liev Schreiber (supp., Manchurian Canidate),
David Carradine (supp., Kill Bill 2),
Meryl Streep (supp., Manchurian Canidate),
Jim Carrey (actor, Eternal Sunshine),
Jim Caviezel (actor, Passion of the Christ),
Tom Cruise (supp., Collateral),
Quentin Tarantino (director, Kill Bill 2),
Michael Mann (director, Collateral),
Hero (foreign),
House of Flying Daggers (foreign),
Passion of the Christ (foreign),
Zack Snyder (director, Dawn of the Dead),
America, Fuck Yeah (original song, Team America)
Team America (animated feature)
Michel Gondry (director, Eternal Sunshine)
Wes Anderson (director, Life Aquatic)
Team America (score, Harry Gregson-Williams)
Kill Bill 2 (score, Robert Rodriguez)
Life Aquatic (art direction)
Kill Bill 2 (cinematography)
Hero (cinematography)
Hero (costume design)
Kill Bill 2 (editing)
Sky Captain (visual effects)
Kill Bill 2 (original screenplay)
Life Aquatic (original screenplay)
Manchurian Canidate (adapted screenplay)
Kill Bill 2 (picture)
Manchurian Canidate (picture)
Passion of the Christ (picture)
Life Aquatic (picture)
Eternal Sunshine (picture)

Hero may not have been eligible anyway, but there were quite a few mistakes, IMO, moreso than the last few years. I love movies, that's why it gets to me every now and then.

Brad Anderson (director, The Machinist)

Mark Wahlberg (supp., I Heart Huckabees)

Zhang Yimou (director, Hero or House of Flying Daggers)

Zatoichi (foreign, Takeshi Kitano)

Chronicles of Riddick (visual effects)

Day After Tomorrow (visual effects)

Timothy Olyphant (supp., Girl Next Door)

Collateral was a strange movie, both Cruise and Foxx had damn-near equal time onscreen, and played off each other so well, that I wouldn't have given top billing to either of them. It's like they both took a backseat to the movie as a whole. Since I don't believe Foxx should have been allowed to have both Actor and Supp. Actor nominations (I don't think anybody should have both), I would have chosen him for his stronger performance in Ray, and Cruise for Supp. in Collateral.

:thumb: I completely agree with you, Eternal Sunshine should have been nominated for best picture and Director, but I guess it's too original for the Academy... It was the best movie this year, with Million Dolllar Baby

But I'm really happy cuz Jorge Drexler won the Oscar for his song, "Al otro lado del Rio".. he wasn't allowed to sing it, but he did it, instead of giving a speech

hizzle?
