aarghhhhhhhhhhhh this is pissing me off
but y the fcuk dont they just release one nation
what do they have to do to release the cd omg i wanna hear the
cd so badly :( did they lose the original cd? so they cant make anymore
y dont they just release it

Im pretty sure amaru lost/wrecked some of the records, so they cant release a full album of One Nation, and even if they are intact, one nation will never see the light of day i doubt.

Amaru already said that Duck Down lost the master reels of their part (1/4 of the album)

everyone puts the blame on someone elses shoulders

the reason it hasn't been released is simply politics

they said that so they wouldnt have to give up the master
if they gave up the masters all Amaru would had did use 2pac verse

That made sense at first, but I don't see why Amaru should get THEIR masters. I understand why Amaru would get the masters of what Pac did at Death Row, but do they automatically get the masters of EVERY Pac recording, even if he was a guest rapper?

i guess if the song is copyrighted as a 2pac song then all the guest artists are included in what is a 2pac master. not sure though

Dina LaPolt was saying something like every track 2Pac did since his first contract with Digital Underground was signed belonged to Amaru

I remember reading that. But wouldn't it make more sense for the VERSE to belong to Amaru rather than the entire master if Pac was just the guest artist? What about all the stuff that Pac did with other rappers that has been released after his death? How did those rappers do it?

so basically one nation is never comin out?

Probably not. Legitimately, at least. I first remember expecting it to drop in 1999 with the other disc dropping in 2000. Looks like Amaru/Death Row/Duck Down fell behind half a decade. But HOPEFULLY, songs from the album will be released on the upcoming Pac album or maybe even on Death Row compilations (if they decide to release an album and stop wasting their time doing whatever), kind of like how Military Minds was released on Better Dayz. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, since in the booklet of Better Dayz it said Military Minds was from the One Nation compilation. So even if the next Pac album is supposed to be the last, maybe Afeni will come to her senses and put out the One Nation album as a follow-up, since it won't technically be a Pac album.

thats gonna suck if they release one nation songs on different cd
lets say scarefaces song is gonna be on his cd and if they all take
back all there songs thats gonna be juss gay if they do that
their wont be a one nation

a part of Dina LaPolt's interview:

AEOP: What’s the situation with One Nation album right now? In a recent interview Duck Down's Buckshot said that it probably never get released. And if so, why is that?

We don’t have the master reels for this album. If Duck Down has the master reels (1/4 analogue tape)- I wish they would tell him but, according to Drew from Duck Down a few years ago - they do not.

AEOP: Let’s talk a little about song rights. If somebody comes up with never before heard Tupac song has he must give it to Amaru? If in example Death Row has some songs that nobody knows and suddenly they decide to release those, are they able to do this or do they belong to Amaru automatically?

When an artist signs an Exclusive Recording Agreement with a record company the agreement specifically states that “any recordings made by them during the term of the recording agreement are owned and controlled by the record company.” Tupac signed an exclusive recording agreement with Interscope on August 15, 1991 and then to Death Row on September 15, 1995 BUT all rights to the Sept 15, 1995 Death Row Agreement were granted to Afeni Shakur by a Federal Court.

Accordingly, pursuant to the contracts, any songs recorded by Tupac from August 15, 1991 until September 14, 1995 belong to Interscope regardless of where he recorded them and all songs recorded by Tupac from September 15, 1995 up until his death regardless of where he recorded them belong Afeni Shakur.

AEOP: It has been said that the reason for not to release Tupac songs in original form is that they are outdated, but don't you think that the truth reason is money that would be needed for sample clearences and also that original producers and artists should be paid. It's a lot of cheaper to reproduce them and replace old artists.

Largely its’s because we can't clear the samples. Under the US Copyright Act, you need written permission because using samples in any song because the new song is deemed a ‘derivative work’ and we can get sued! For example, try getting any sample cleared by Prince. It’s not going to happen. Therefore, we strip the sample off (which is usually the whole musical bed) and chose new producers to make new music.

AEOP: Why so many times the artists who originally appeared on Tupac records are left out and replaced?

Some of them are very difficult to deal with and make unreasonable demands which only hurts them, not us. However, Afeni Shakur always allocates them a percentage of the copyright of the new song even though by law she does not have to do this. She does this out of respect and loyalty because they worked with and were friends with her son.

i don't believe a thing that wench says...

simple fact is that someone we all know had offered to make a deal to give over tracks to amaru that they didn't have and they responded by demanding full quality cd dubs before opening dialogue. lapolt's strong arm tactics blew up in her face and they will not be getting these tracks no matter how hard they may try.

that being said, what's the incentive for someone to help them out? if person a has some reels that are missing, and all he's met with are demands and threats, then why not run to hmv.co.jp and sell some boots like daz did?

those who control amaru (i do not speak of ms. shakur) have created an atmosphere that is not productive or open to deals. anything that says 2pac, they believe they are exclusively entitled to, when in reality there are many more complex issues at hand to be addressed. then again, amaru records has been on a constant downward spiral since it began anyway.

getting sample clear is not that hard. she just dont want to do it just because if a sample is used then amaru will have to pay a percentage fee for use of that sample.
I'm not 100 percent sure i think on Bizzy first album he sample a prince song
