New Orleans....

maybe not an overthrow of the govt, but i could see people rising up to try and fight against the govt in a forceful way

I agree with you completely. Many people are not happy with our social structure. The middle class continues to shrink and you end up with a small group of haves and a huge group of have-nots. The political process is flawed to fix it because only the wealthiest of the rich can even get into a position to run for important political office. Eventually some intelligent, like-minded have-nots will get together and organize a different way to get shit done.

This shit further intesifies tensions between the white and back communities. I could see the black community seeking some sort of sovereignity after this. Seeing as how they would want more control over their own peoples, since it seems Bush only cares about whites. But even that would be pretty extreme.

could it ever get to a point where it is the american people vs the american govt? would the govt fights its own people? would the troops fight against their own people? brother vs brother has happend before in this country but this is a new time, a new era, people have changed a little from those times. even given the order would the army fight against citizens? their neighbors? their friends? i think i would move to england if a civil war ever happens. or canada. maybe even mexico. i could be rich down there

Guyz,

Right theres all this bizz niss about George Bush hatin' black ppl?.... does any one think it would have been different if it was in a different state like L.A where it is not mainly black populated?....Does george bush really hate black people?.. or is it al blown outta proportion?.. were they just un-prepared?.

Your Thoughts..

No I don't think GWBush does actually hate black people. I just think he doesn't have the intelligence to actually deal with a situation like this. I really start to doubt his IQ after he said in a speach "I see the positiv side, we'll build new great lil cities" - while people where actually still dyin in NO. Sorry. This is not the work of a hater but of someone that is just overstrained - he simply shouldn't be in this position.

The reasons for the disaster are clearly lack of preparation. On on hand GWBush didn't hive them money to take care of the dikes cause he prefered to spend the money in a war - on the other hand anyone was unprepared when it actually did happen. Why didn't they send the army earlier? Why did it take 3 days until he send some warships into the region? If you know what could happen, wouldn't u try to mpve troops as near as possible to the town so they can act immediatly after the disaster? *Yes I would, but I guess if you're on vacation you don't care that much* Why would it take 4 days until you ask other countries for help? ...... I could go on for every.

Well, we all know that there is still a racist component to all this, cause they once that suffered the most are the poor and that means the blacks. I still wouldn't call GWBUsh racist, but the social structur is. Not one person in charge is racist, the country is. The way things are handled is. Yes all this became a racist disaster, but it's far bigger then to blame one person - it's amerikkka, youknowwhatI'msayin?

NEW NEWS
BBC correspondents say most of those who wanted to leave have done so, but some are determined to stay.

The authorities have vowed to restore security in the Louisiana city following a breakdown of law and order.

President George W Bush is due to visit Louisiana and Mississippi - his second trip to the region in three days.

The BBC's Justin Webb in Washington says the Bush administration is now focused on being more effective on the ground in the hurricane-hit areas and on convincing Americans that the White House is not to blame for what went wrong.

The president's suggestion over the weekend that local officials made mistakes has led one Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu, to threaten to punch him if he says it again.

The visit follows an incident on Sunday in which US police shot eight people, reportedly killing five, after contractors escorted by officers came under fire.

A week after the hurricane struck the Gulf coast, Mr Bush's father, former President George Bush senior, and former President Bill Clinton, are due to visit Houston, Texas to launch an aid appeal for victims.

Limited return

Rescue teams have been working around the clock to move stranded survivors to safety.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said troops had secured the flood-stricken city and full relief operations were under way.

The BBC's Matthew Davis in New Orleans says the city's convention centre is littered with the debris of the thousands of people who have now left.

Chairs, barbeque grills and stained mattresses are among the discarded items lining the street for hundreds of metres.

Electricity has now been restored in some areas, and some of the first evacuees have been allowed to return briefly to their homes in the west of the city, to collect belongings.

Helicopters and boats are still looking for survivors.

Only 59 bodies have been recovered so far in New Orleans, but officials says the death toll could run into the thousands.

The authorities have issued a mandatory evacuation order.

But the BBC's Richard Greene says he met several people who were determined to stay behind.

'Ugly scene'

AP news agency also reported that some survivors were determined to stay, to defend their neighbourhood from looters.

Eerie silence in New Orleans

"We kind of together decided we would defend what we have here and we would stay up and defend the neighbourhood," army veteran Charlie Hackett was quoted as saying.

But Mr Chertoff has warned that staying is not a reasonable alternative.

"We are not going to be able to have people sitting in houses... for weeks and months while we de-water and clean the city," he said.

"The flooded places, when they are de-watered, are not going to be sanitary."

"We are going to uncover people who died, maybe hiding in houses, got caught by the flood... It is going to be about as ugly of a scene as I think you can imagine."

More than one million people are said to have had to leave their homes in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Most of them have gone to Texas, Tennessee, Indiana and Arkansas.

even senators wanna start shit....

One of the biggest mistakes was to give the special forces and army "Shoot on Sight" rights that really pissed people off. cuz a few pl were iteraly tryin to stay alive , yeh a few peeps were takin the piss and maybe should have been dealt with in other ways....

I'm appalled at the way the "rescue operation", if one could speak of such a thing, was handled.

I mean, its America, right? Land of the awfully rich and the patriots? WTF has happened? They more look like the GoldCoast how they're doing this.

i think people should start thinking of the bright side in this disaster.
just think, in the winter, all that water is going to freeze.
then people can skate everywhere. that would be fucking amazing.
it will truly be a winter wonderland :thumb:
