just thinking the other day 2 of hip hops finest cds ever created on one hand nas - illmatic, the start of a legend a pure cd 10 tracks all classic on the other hand makaveli the cd i consider to be perfect (personal opioinon) ended all questions expect his death, 12 stragiht tracks (give or take toss it up) yet the only difference is the time

cool man, but, i fail to understand wat u want people to comment on because wat you just said especially about illmatic (since we are on a Pac Board, chance r u gonna find alot more people support thinkin on MDK7) is highly subjective..and I read this comment somewhere today some where,not sure if its on this board..i think its cool to say wat u think, but please also bring knowledge and insight,,I dont mean to put down your post but..its very subjective (as u pointed out) and might apply to u only because there are many such classic albums out the..from the post I read earlier today: atleast highlight better in the how Pac was way ahead of Nas in terms of writting (the time factor 7dayz to 2 Years), maybe even overall talent ;-)...
I love nas's sh*t, but I feel he finds it hard sumtimes to match his lyrics with his production,Pac always got the balance right, listen to Hail Mary...Ive heard a few remixes of this track, but non beats the beats on MDK7...productions always went hand in hand with the feeling pac was trying to project. ANYWAY...

Let's not forget that Illmatic was Nas's FIRST album (less experience in the rap game) and Makaveli was Tupac's last official album (more experience in the rap game). So it's no surprise that Makaveli is considered better by many and was created at a much faster pace.

7 Day Theory = greatest hip hop album of all time. Pretty much nothing but jewels from start to finish.

Both are classics, but 7 Day Theory is the more mind blowing album....for the fact it was made in only 3 days, and it was Pac in his PRIME. Nas created a masterpiece with his debut but he could never live up to it again, while with Pac it was the opposite: he was getting better with just about every album. Lyrically, Illmatic is only slightly better, and 7 Day Theory's production is way better. Plus, none of the tracks on Illmatic can touch the intensity and sheer rawness of tracks like Bomb First, Me and my Girlfriend, or Life of an Outlaw. And "Blasphemy" is probably a deeper song than anything on Illmatic (though Life's a Bitch comes close). 7 Day Theory has a greater range in subject matter also.

Then,

Illmatic is only 40 minutes long, while Makaveli is 60 minutes. Do you want 40 minutes of perfection, or 60 minutes. Ill take the 60 minutes.

I love both albums but Pac in his prime is simply UNFUCKWITHABLE, and thats what is simply boils down to when comparing these albums.
