.... actually that is the word I'm looking for. So before u go off trying to be an intelectual, why dont u open ur eyes and look at the fuckin world around u, and also be careful before you go off and make bold statements such as "move away from urban and black areas and you'll find guys who don't act hard."
You cannot discard the connection between rap music and black and urban youth leading to bravado or "acting hard". It's not about "all".
if u havent noticed rap music is also followed in white suburban communities, just as much as "the ghetto".. And I'm not disgarding that connection, all I'm saying is that connection existsin suburbs too.
Why do rich people move to the suburbs? Because there's less crime and less problems, for starters.
I never said there's less crime. I said there's more ppl 'acting' hard in suburbs. Crime is a statistic that can be measured, whereas 'acting hard' relies on ones perception of what 'acting hard' is, and in my personal experience, I've seen more ppl 'act hard' in suburban areas than in actual rough neighborhoods.
But, I would say that in the contemporary scheme of things, urban youth who listen to rap music are most likely to "act hard" than suburban youth who listen to alternative.
way to overgeneralize things. I cant state this as a fact, but in general, aren't most rap records consumed by suburban youth? Not saying they listen to more rap, but they have money to purchase more albums. The rap industry exist in its size and popularity today because suburban youth are infatuated with the culture and are basically keeping the rap industry in business. But all thats another arguement.
Seriously though, not too many ppl 'act' hard in rough areas, they know they get fucked up if they step outta line. Most ppl mind their own business. But maybe the areas i've lived in and visited are just weird. Just outta curiousity, how long have u lived in an urban/black community as opposed to a suburb?
