Here's the article from MTV talkin about Makaveli:

The Argument

Originally, no Tupac album scored in the top 10, while two Biggie albums did. The team felt that even if that's how the original voting went, it couldn't stand by the list without Tupac being on it (see the Ready to Die page for the debate on cutting one of Biggie's gems.) So which Tupac album should be included, All Eyez on Me or the Makaveli album (The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory)? Or none at all? There were a few holdouts who felt Pac didn't necessarily belong on this list of the greatest of all time ...

Rahman Dukes: I'm against having the two Biggie albums on there. But if we take one of the Biggie albums off and put a Tupac on and say that the Tupac one is better than the Biggie one that we took off, then that was a lie, because I don't agree with that. The Tupac album is not better. I don't think that none of Tupac's albums are better than Biggie's.

I used to mess with Pac like right up until "Juice." And then he started flipping on everybody from New York and I was just like ...

Tone Boots: I feel the opposite — I didn't like him because he started dissing New York, but I didn't like the songs he made until he started getting with [Death Row]. I think he made corny records before that. He was an OK rapper and the sales proved it, because he did not reach gold and platinum when he first came out.

Have a problem with any of our choices? Got a better list? Let us know, and check back later for our readers' own hip-hop top 10 lists.

Sway Calloway: With all that controversy surrounding that album, that's when Pac was probably at the peak of his power, 'cause All Eyez is when he first came out of jail, and people were watching to see what he was gonna do after he was back. But by the time of Makaveli, that whole persona with Death Row and Suge ... for someone to come out on wax and attack the biggest artists, like Nas, Jay-Z and Puff, it didn't even matter, even old-school artists like De La Soul, and not care ... Not to mention the music, the tracks were ridiculous. I do definitely think Makaveli should be on this top 10.

Dukes: I want to back up my claim before everyone jumps down my throat. My thing with him was that he was contradicting himself. And you know everybody is talking about Nas and how he contradicts himself. And you know I used to listen to Tupac and he was always on the pro-black thing and he had a lot of messages and I'm not saying he didn't have anything later in his raps. You know, how are you going to go pro-black to like ...

Sway: He grew up. His life changed, he changed, he was shot.

Bridget Bland: You can't discredit it. Just because he is contradictory, I don't think that can discredit his talent.

Tone Boots: All I'm saying is he came off as a hater to me.

Dukes: Exactly, that's what I'm saying.

(Everybody starts yelling.)

If their reasoning was what is in Deep's post, I am surprised. Even if Pac was the biggest hater of all time, it has nothing to do with the songs. It looks like they graded his albums based on his character and things that happened and not the songs themselves.

i can't believe this shit...
The list consists of good albums, but i can't understand how they've missed of Me against the world, nad how low they've rated the 7 day theory, they probably haven't even listened to the lyrics of blasphemy.
FUCK MTV!!!!!!!

Maybe if these guys got shot and their friends held out on them they'd react with anger. Its funny how they're kinda slammin pac for who he was, but when they mention biggie and those eastcoast rappers they don't mention the fact that they held out on their buddy when he got shot and likely had some knowledge about the attack beforehand. How disrespectful to go on Tv and disrespect 2pacs person. Even puffy and jay know not to try shit like that.

I like all the albums on this list, but i felt that Me Against The World was better than Ready 2 Die. Makaveli The 7 Day Theory was a hip hop classic, but I guess if your from New York and a hip hop journalist, u live by these three rules. 1. One Biggie is God, 2. Jay Z is God only cuz Biggie is Dead, 3. Stick together if you feel like NYC Hip Hop is threatened

7 Day Theory > either of Biggie's albums

easily.

Reasonable Doubt shouldnt be on ANY top 10 list, unless we are talking about the 10 most overrated albums of all time.

1. Illmatic
2. Enter the 36 Chambers
3. Me Against the World
4. Apocalypse '91
5. Ready to Die
6. Paid in Full
7. AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
8. Chronic
9. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
10. Raising Hell

I know that nobody is going to agree with this list, but I've got the point out that Me Against the World is the greatest Pac album ever because he expressed every sort of human emotion that you can feel (suicide, love, hate, envy, etc.) and provided perfect commentaries on life in songs like "Lord Knows" and "So Many Tears." That's why I don't watch MTV. I think everybody needs to turn off their TV for like two weeks and just see how much more they can accomplish. Even if you think watching the news is a good excuse for watching it, you're seriously wrong because media is the fourth branch of government. Like Dead Prez said "LET'S GET FREE"

ready to die was pure garbage except for a few tracks which were good.

i dont really disagree with the other album choices

but....

all eyez on me and makaveli 7 day theory should both be up in the list.

fuck mtv, fuck rolling stones, fuck vibe, and fuck all these other fake rap magzines who think they no shit about rap, next thing they will say britney speras is better than tupac, please don't listen to this fuckers, let them stick with thier fake hiphop bullshit

Pac did really touch their hearts in New York!!!! he really deserves number 1 spot in any part of the world in any hip hop magazine of any kind until the end of time. and dont even tell me that crap how krs has better lyrical skills or biggie has better flow or nas has better structure - # 1 should always be 2PAC, no contest.

I used to mess with Pac like right up until "Juice." And then he started flipping on everybody from New York and I was just like ...

I didn't like him because he started dissing New York

for someone to come out on wax and attack the biggest artists, like Nas, Jay-Z and Puff, it didn't even matter, even old-school artists like De La Soul, and not care ...

Tone Boots: All I'm saying is he came off as a hater to me.

Dukes: Exactly, that's what I'm saying.

That pretty much summerizes their whole thought process and problem with Tupac, they are all east coast heads and on the easts nuts.

Its funny that Tone Boots calls Pac a hater, and then goes to say some total bullshit hate like:

Tone Boots: I feel the opposite — I didn't like him because he started dissing New York, but I didn't like the songs he made until he started getting with [Death Row]. I think he made corny records before that. He was an OK rapper and the sales proved it, because he did not reach gold and platinum when he first came out.

Ermmm..... I think this dude needs to check his soundscan reports. Corny? Please. I guess he wasnt feeling Dear Mama and thought that was corny.
