Meatarians..

I'm a vegetarian.

Meat disgusts me. It's not so much the meat, actually, more so the ignorance of the people that eat it.

They don't realize that 99% of the meat out there comes from places where the animals are mass-caged in the shittiest of conditions, disease is rife, and even more so what they eat is the shittiest part of the animal. All for the sake of cutting costs.

If you eat meat, you should buy the most expensive meat on the shelf. Otherwise, you are a moron. You may as well scoop up some shit and garbage from the side of the road and eat that.

I think it's too easy for people to forget they are eating the flesh of a dead animal that has been sliced up with it's insides pulled out. They should put a picture of the animal being chopped up on every packet of meat you buy at the store.

I saw this program on TV where the presenter basically took a range of people and showed them exactly how most meat is mass produced, and the difference in the way that the expensive meat is made - still not humane, but much much much more so than the rest of it.

Those people freaked out so hard. Then he took them to the store, and said if you are going to purchase meat, what would you buy? And all of them chose the expensive stuff now that they knew what they do to the animals in order for people to get their cheap meat.

Except for one fat ass ignorant bitch who said she had 3 kids to feed or some shit and would therefore continue to buy cheap meat.
How about you feed them something healthy instead bitch. No surprise that she was the ugliest, greasiest, most zit-covered overweight skank on the whole show.

The bottom line is, you are what you eat. Sure, eating steak everyday might turn you into a big muscular macho moron. It feeds your strength - but vegetarianism feeds your mind. Just look at some of my notable fellow P.E.T.A members and that much is obvious.......my cousin is basically a patriarch of P.E.T.A and helped launch it in India by running a contest where the winners got signed copies of our last album, he did a TV advert too. In London a few months back, there was a P.E.T.A event where Pamela Anderson stripped naked in front of everyone, saying "I'd rather be naked than wear fur" or something. My cousin was there, right at the front. I wish I would have been there. That would have rocked so hard.

The tipping point for me becoming a vegetarian was when I had this dream about a year and a half ago. In the dream, myself and loads of people I knew were sitting around a table eating a meal with meat in it. People were like, breaking off parts of bone with the meat attached and eating it off the bone of whatever it was, you know like you do with roast chicken when you rip of a leg and whatnot.

Anyway, at that point in the dream, I reached out....and I saw that the meat on the table was a human head. I woke up completely freaked out and stopped eating meat from then on. Funny thing is, I feel healthier since that day. I have more energy, I'm less lethargic (after eating meat I would always feel lethargic and slow) - and I can think more clearly.

Sometimes when you see people eating like steak and stuff, people who really love eating meat, you can see them literally drooling at the mouth like a fucking hyena who's just found a corpse. It's really disturbing.

Anyway, to all you meat eaters, don't take this as a personal insult or a dig. Each to their own, different strokes for different folks and all that. I don't mind what other people want to put into their bodies - just dont want that shit in mine.

Well you did say that people who like meat are ignorant.Sorry, but i dont think you know how meat is produced.I believe the reason livestock are on this planet is to provide food for humans.I have been on farms. No,cattle are not treated poorly. Not in Ireland.Only males are killed for meat, when they get to a certain age(before they become bulls). As you probably know bulls can be very dangerous so the farmer might not want them around. Most farmers,in Ireland anyway, treat their animals extremely well.If they dont then the produce is going to be shit and they wont get a good return on their investment. And disease? If cattle have diseases they are useless. They will be slaughtered and the farmer loses money.

Do you realise that vegetables that are grown with the aid of chemicals can cause cancer as well.?btw, people should never parts of vegetables that have a bluey grey coloring.

So your comment about 99% of meat comes from place where animals are mass caged is false.Animals may be kept in sheds in winter. From Spring onwards, they are kept in open fields.

Humans are meat eaters and always have been. Its normal. You say that people that eat meat regularly are gonna be less intelligent than vegetarians? Is there scientific proof for this because i know lot of highly intelligent people who eat meat regularly..

No offense Militant,i usually agree with your posts but this post is highly ignorant.

Im hungry now.Im gonna get me some steak.

Bobby...my post is not ignorant. I can provide you with worldwide facts and evidence to back it all up if you'd like.

First off I didn't say that people who eat meat are ignorant. That would be a gross generalisation and it's not what I said. I said that there is an ignorance amongst the general public as to how meat is produced, which there is. If you walked around and surveyed 100 randomly chosen people - would any of them be able to tell you what really goes down? Maybe a handful, at best.

I know exactly how meat is mass-produced, and I honestly wish I was wrong! You speak of Ireland, I'm talking on a world-wide scale and I've seen how that shit goes down with my own eyes. I've never been to Ireland but it's a small country with a small population that doesn't need to mass-manufacture meat the way that other countries do, so yes, I would imagine in Ireland that animals do get treated relatively well compared to other countries.

So, livestock are on this planet to provide food for humans? I don't judge other people's beliefs but why exactly do you think that? Why do you believe it is your god-given right to take the life of another living being? And don't give me the whole food-chain argument because it's flawed. I believe that humans were given intelligence in order to make the right and compassionate choice. If an alien life-being came down and took over earth and they all ate humans, would you agree with that? Would that be right simply because they are the dominating species?

And yes I do also agree that there's some dangerous vegetables out there grown with the aid of chemicals. However the price denomination between chemically altered vegetables and organic ones is minimal compared to meat, and most people actually do eat organic vegetables nowadays.

My comment about where 99% of meat comes from is factually correct on a worldwide scale. Again I'll state that it's probably different in Ireland, but do you realise how many thousands and thousands and thousands of battery farms for chickens alone there are? Where they push as many birds into each cage as possible for the sole purpose of maximising profits? Read this excerpt from an independant report:

------------------------------------------------

Diseases of Intensification - Cages Promote Suffering.

Many diseases and injuries go unnoticed in the gloomy, overcrowded cages. Birds in the top and lowest cages suffer most from neglect, being hard to see. Impacted eggs, prolapses and disorders of kidneys and liver plague battery hens, and Marek's disease (a form of cancer) takes its toll. Often, birds reach the point of death before farmers notice anything amiss. Worse, dead hens (such as those in the photo on the right) are left in cages for long periods while 'farm fresh' eggs roll past or lodge against the corpses.
Tumours. Many spent hens have malignant tumours. In the dimly-lit cage conditions they're ignored, and many sick birds are loaded onto lorries to travel to slaughter. Could cancerous birds reach the consumer?

Brittle and Broken Bones. Cage conditions result in hens with bones so brittle they snap when catchers wrench them from the cages. An ex-poultry worker gave the following description of his daily tasks and the catching process:

'One of my jobs was removing dead birds. There was never any shortage. Due to poor light the bottom two tiers of cages were in darkness, and it was impossible to see if the birds were still alive. When the carcasses were removed it was often a matter of a skeleton head and a few bones. I once took part in the clearance of a ten thousand bird shed. Other lads were brought in from local farms and the torture commenced. 1 recall being shouted at for my gentleness. Birds were dragged from the cages by their legs. Four birds were carried in each hand end down, down the shed to the door. The noise was deafening, the smell was putrid. Legs, wings and necks were snapped without concern. As I now look back, the whole system is incredibly cruel. After saying all this, this particular farm was good as far as battery farms go. The floors were swept daily and precautions taken against disease and pests. I gave up work in the poultry industry after bad dreams at night.'

Research at Bristol University has indicated that a massive 24% of battery hens suffer broken bones during catching.
------------------------------------------------

Just because something is "normal" does not make it right, so your point there (which is something I hear from pro-meat eaters all the time) is completely invalid.

A couple of hundred years ago, it was "normal" for white people in this country and the US to keep black and indian folks as slaves. i'm sure i don't need to go into that with you.

As I said - humans have the intelligence to make the right choice. My point was not so much that meat eaters are less intelligent but that vegetarians are more intelligent and I have found this to be the case with the people that I personally know. I guarantee you if you found 10 random celebrity vegetarians and 10 random celebrity pro meat eaters, the vegetarians would be a more intelligent set of people. Look at the list of P.E.T.A supporters and Anti-P.E.T.A campaigners to see that fact. On the P.E.T.A side of things you get people like Common, Mos Def, Prince, Sir Paul McCartney, Andre 3000, The Dalai Lama, Morrissey, Shania Twain........then for the pro-meat argument you get ignorant racist fuckheads like Ted Nugent and morons like Gordon Ramsey.

I'll end with a couple of quotes I agree with, one from Sir Paul and one from legendary English/Irish singer Morrissey (formerly of The Smiths and acclaimed artist in his own right).

Sir Paul McCartney
sums it all up: "If anyone wants to save the planet, all they have to do is just stop eating meat. That's the single most important thing you could do. It's staggering when you think about it. Vegetarianism takes care of so many things in one shot: ecology, famine, cruelty."

Morrissey: "Eating meat is on the same moral level as child abuse. It’s the same thing. Animals are like children, they look at us for protection and we should protect them. I really feel quite smug about mad-cow-disease and foot-and-mouth and so forth, and I just think ‘What do you expect? People have been saying it for years.’ It’s all just abuse and it’s all human evil."

I mean sure, slaughtering animals is cruel and all, but with all the other problems in the world, who gives a fuck?

If you actually know what happens to those animals behind the scenes and you can still come up here and say "who cares?" you're a real piece of shit.
Why do you think there are so many problems in the world? Because of fucked up attitudes like yours.

Bingo. That is one rep-worthy post.

If you weren't already in my sig list that post would have gotten you in there :)

Militant enlighten me as to how being a vegetarian feeds your mind, and also explain how eating meat turns you into a "muscled-up moron" (as if working out makes you dumber somehow).

FroDawg..

When you order a Big Mac Trio... what do you eat exactly?

I don't know what a Trio is, but when i get a burger, it's just the cheeseburger with ketchup. yep, i'm just a boring plain jane.

oh, and to militant and everyone else, it's not that i have anything against vegetables. and i do sometimes feel guilty about eating meat, the wife being a vegetarian at all. i have learned her beliefs and wholeheartedly respect them. as a matter of fact, before we got married, i said that i would stop eating meat. but with my utter distaste for veggies, i didn't think i would be able to survive on fruits and pasta.

I'm a vegetarian.

There's no need to buy the most expensive stuff, just stay away from hot dogs and you should be alright. I worked a few weeks at a major meat producer (Scan foods) and that was really the only thing I found disgusting.

I think it's too easy for people to forget they are eating the flesh of a dead animal that has been sliced up with it's insides pulled out. They should put a picture of the animal being chopped up on every packet of meat you buy at the store.

Don't know what they did in that show but usually they kill the animals by using a bolt gun to the temple so the animals don't feel a thing. As far as the weight issue goes it's more accurate to blame transfats and sugars rather than meat.

The bottom line is, you are what you eat. Sure, eating steak everyday might turn you into a big muscular macho moron. It feeds your strength - but vegetarianism feeds your mind. Pamela Anderson haven't been hot for about a decade.

The only real issue with eating meat is when the animals are forced to live in inhumane conditions, but to make sure you don't support that you can just buy your meat from a producer which guarantees the wellbeing of the animals (such as Scan foods http://www.scan.se/aciro/websidor/v...nuHhgeINugDimKhUk63ucEcL4KQoCF2QfKJAqsLiC0JHu)

Not only should you not eat meat for health reasons, but you also shouldn't consume dairy.

Rukas, how could you eat no fruit? Not even bananas! But seriously, they have many cancer-fighting properties, esp. dark blue and red ones like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc.

Show me someone who has cancer and I'll show you someone who doesn't eat blueberries. Yeah, a little exaggerated but not by much. One recent study showed a 54% reduction in all cancers for those who had some blueberries in their diet. That's just for blueberries. Mix all the healing fruits together and there's no reason anyone should be getting cancer. Even smokers. Because pytochemicals repair damaged DNA and can overcompensate for the effects of carcinogens, if you take in enough. You should have at least 6 servings of fruits a day. I'm telling you. I've got over 5,000 studies. An apple a day... organic, of course.

The only real issue with eating meat is when the animals are forced to live in inhumane conditions

Is it? I'm becoming a vegetarian (finding a proper diet first) mainly because I don't want something to die for me. Considering how big a role killing plays in our lives I'd say that's a pretty big issue. Everyone think it's wrong to kill but why is it okay when it's animal? Any argument you can give is either bullshit or not in accordance with our own morality.

"I like meat. I > everything else" is still the most common argument though.

If people learned to appreciate the life of even a fly, how do think this would affect the world?

Doesn't really bother me.

Don't you find that worrying?

Besides that there's the possible health issues like Militant and Jokerman have pointed out. Schools should start educating kids on how to eat properly. Less problems in the food industry, healthier people.

At the very least switch to biological meat and only eat it twice a week.

I've thought about it often but I can't answer that question. I can't answer why it's wrong to kill period, I just think it is. I think most people will agree that it's wrong to kill so that should be base of how to look at things. The question should be "why is it okay?".

Why shouldn't people consume dairy products?.You need milk for healthy bones and strength.I understand that people can be come allergic to dairy products and that they can affect people with asthma but i dont know why else people wouldn't consume dairy products.I drink about a litre of milk a day.

Thats interesting about blueberries.I must start eating them. The only fruit i eat are apples and sometimes oranges. Are apples a good fruit to eat?

I understand what you were saying now Militant. In other countries, you get all this manufactured meat and you have animals being treated cruelly.I can only speak for Ireland.Irish meat is of great quality.

A lot of the chicken in ths shops is this imported organic bullshit. Not good at all.Its best to get home reared irish chicken.Id imagine its the same in the UK.

What? How can you understand people who don't eat meat but not be able to understand why people don't eat veggies? People, sorry Humans, need meat to survive, it provides essential nutrients and protein for our bodies. Just the same as humans need vegetables to survive because the provide nutrietns and vitamins that we need. I'll never fucking understand why people don't eat meat or veggies. I mean sure, slaughtering animals is cruel and all, but with all the other problems in the world, who gives a fuck?

We have thousands of people dying a day in so many different countries, we have countless wars being fought, deadly diseases that need curing, countries being exploited daily, but who gives a shit about that, lets take a stand against meat eaters because its cruel to animals!

eating is not cruel, its the way they are kept. its natural for most species to eat meat and vegetation. but not eating vegetables? the vegetable is a life form with no conscience, its designed to be eaten. animals can be eaten, but you must break one of the 10 commandments to do so.

By the way, I am a meat eater, but to me any food is good food, except the disgusting sausage bap from the vending machine that i paid twice for cos the first time it didn't dispense!

The commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill" refers to killing a fellow human being.

Many references to killing and eating animals are made in the bible.for example of the top of my head:the parable of the prodigal son.

"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything." Genesis 9:3

I was a veggie for 8 years. I think the reason i bacame one was i used to smoke way to much weed and that got me thinking of the poor animals:D I still do think its a shame but it aint me thats doing the killing! I know they are killed for my purpose, but me being a veggie was not gonna stop any killing so fuck it make mines a double bacon cheese burger with cheese.:)

I also think that were supossed to eat meat. I mean what about all the less fortunate people who live in harsh lands where they depend on meat to surrvive? they cant just nip down to tescos for a cheese and tomatoe pasta bake.
