A man is charged with homicide after he was “horsing around” with his girlfriend and she was dropped 23 stories to her death. Kevin Eckenrode, 25 was dangling his 23-year-old girlfriend, Rachel M. Kozlusky, out the apartment window, playing around while drunk when he lost his grip and she fell to her death. Kozlusky died of massive head and internal injuries when she crashed through a skylight and fell to the pavement below in front of the building.
The two had been dating for about a year. The incident occurred at Pennsylvania Place building, one of the tallest buildings in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Eckenrode, a state employee of the state gaming board had just been hired about a month ago and was still awaiting the results of a background check. Eckenrode “was distraught and extremely inebriated” when police arrived at his apartment. He was arrested for homicide and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico Jr. was quoted as saying “Reckless ... if not malicious, obviously it’s an unusual scenario...even if his version is true, to be holding someone out on a 23rd-story window is beyond ridiculous. It’s as reckless an act as I can imagine, if not malicious.”
