Prosecutor opposes bail for suspect in fall death
Saying unanswered questions remain about how a woman fell from a 23rd-story apartment last month, prosecutors are asking that the man she was with remain in prison without bail. Kevin P. Eckenrode, 25, has been in Dauphin County Prison since the incident on Feb. 25 in which Rachel Kozlusky fell from Eckenrode’s Pennsylvania Place apartment.
Dauphin County District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr. said his office opposed bail because Eckenrode is charged with criminal homicide and investigation of the case is continuing. “We don’t see him as a threat to public safety," Marsico said today. "Nevertheless, the seriousness of this offense speaks for itself.” Eckenrode’s attorney, William C. Costopoulos, had asked for bail, saying the evidence “strongly suggests that this was a tragic accident involving a boyfriend and girlfriend who were celebrating their engagement.”
