Im just searching for a laptop for someone else. They had a HP laptop before but it had serious over heating issues and the hard drive eventually failed on it.

Anyway, im wondering as to why so few laptops seem to have blu ray drives with them nowadays? My Acer laptop has a blu ray drive and i got it two years ago and i recall seeing plenty of other laptops with blu ray drives while i was searching for one to get back then.

i have recommended that they get an Asus laptop. i have heard good things about them.

Oh, if it has to be reliable and look cool then there was that cool Asus Bamboo line, I believe U33JC and U55JC models. I'm not sure about their pricing and availability though.

If 13,3 inch (portable, light) is okay than you can't go wrong with U36JC or U36SD. Great and inexpensive laptops packing a lot of punch.

edit: I see they are more expensive than 500euros after all. The prices must have gone up again.
Then K53SV is basically a similar thing but bigger (15 inch) and probably of slightly cheaper build quality. I think you can't really go wrong with Asus these days though.

It should be okay too, but that Asus (the 15 inch one) comes with Nvidia Optimus and a decent graphics card if anyone would ever want to play games on it.

Oh, it just bumped up in price. Up to $630 now. It was under $600 the other day.
