She owns Pac's image, and everything surrounding it (which includes his face). Apparently you are selling it for profit so I can see a few reasons why she could sue you.

But anyway, as for the topic, thats what most artists and estates do when someone tries to profit off of their face/music. Even Prince has a long history of suing his own fans for doing similar stuff.

difference is that politictians represent the people, and are openly public domain, where Tupac is not. For example leonardo's stuff is open used on T's and stuff... he's public domain.

Any1 who even took a basic law class or even read a basic law book would know she can sue you and make u take this off the site.


Exp. If ur name is Eddy Murphy and u own a store and call it Eddy Murphy's , the famous eddy can acctually sue you for using his name because he is a public figure and your not(i kno the situation that rukas is in is a lil diff. but u get the picture).

Celebs have different rights then the average joe ... rukus becareful man she can come after u with this.

Using 2pacs name 2 advertise a web site .... Yes she still can sue him, but is it worth it 2 her? It all depends on the ppl who r sueing and who they r sueing. She wont sue sum lik kid who made a t shirt wit pacs name on but if ur trying 2 promote a certain thing with 2pacs name she can sue ur ass off.

All rukas is tryin 2 say is Keep 2pacs ART the way HE MADE IT. U cant take a Picaso(how ever u spell it) and "update it" to make it fit 2005. I dont even think a lot of 2pacs work is even outdated just might need a lil tweaking or maybe enhanced.

Hey 1 good thing did come from this Afeni is noticing that 2pac fans r very unhappy with what is happening with his music . I know she does not owe us anything but she owes her son a lil more .

look at it this way...
without pac face=cheap t-shirt (no sales)
with pac face = high sales plus cash for him
he cant get away with that
like i said before...if the fans want gear with pac on it
we can get a ton from the makaveli line
its not like hes doing the fans a favor by selling us tupac t-shirts
like we cant already get them
they are everywhere....
but if you where selling them
and giving the cash from sales to poor folks/homeless etc etc
then that would be fine

what where you gonna do with the money you made off these shirts?

Do you realise how much money we have sunk into this website? Im hardly trying to get rich off of Tupac, come on now. :rolleyes:
 
its not solely afeni doing this you know... i dont think she would be surfing the net making notes on all the websites that have 2pac items which are sold without royalties to amaru. afeni is the one you see whenever amaru comes up anywhere, but she does not run it alone...
people at amaru do this, because amaru is a business, and in this case, "free tupac" is bad for business.truthfully, it is insulting to their decisions, regardless of whether they are right or wrong in everyone's eyes.
afeni probably hasnt even heard of this yet and maybe will never, because its all handled quickly...

don't take any shit from them. they are just scaring you with all the legal mumbo jumbo. make it clear that all profits go to the free tupac movement.they can't sue you for shit. they might be on your ass for awhile,but tell them if they don't stop harrassing you, you will take it to the courts. Once you make that clear to them they won't get near you again. I run several businesses and I've seen all this bullshit lawyers try to put on you.

If you don't believe me call up a lawyer and he'll tell you the exact same thing
