Dog ownership is allowed in Islam!

Secpondly, what's your source Jokerman. Source or ban!. Usually a lot is lost in the transalation with these stories. And western news agencies would purposefully use semantic to their advantage.
Also, Jokermans been on a 'mimi crusade' posting these type of stories from any foreign country since peope kept doing it for the US so much.

Here's some more on the subject:

Dogs in Iran http://irandogs.topcities.com/

"Iran has a great and ancient history and culture, may be more than 6000 years old and as you will see in this web. site, during all of this time, dogs have had a very close connection with the history, culture and the life of the nation of this land. This tie of friendship, has it's prosperity's and falls too. In the old Persia, dogs had a main role and positive place in the life of Persians. It was a duty for any Persian to have a dog or take care of dog in his home. In that period, dogs classified by Iranians as: shepherds, hounds, home dogs and specially guardians which are originally the big dogs. When the Iranians changed their religion to Islam (in about 1300 years ago) they changed their view about dogs as a "najess" (unclean) beings. In our little web. site, we will try to give you the most important information about dogs in this two different period of Iranian history including many interesting facts, articles and even photos (may be for the first time as a web. site of Iranian dogs) that surely will be absorbing for all of the "dog lovers" around the world. It is very difficult to receive accurate information about what is going on with dogs in Iran of today. The Islamic Republic of Iran has many harsh laws against dogs and they kill hundreds or maybe thousands of stray dogs routinely. Because of the harsh attitudes of the Islamic regime towards dogs, the two organizations that are working for animal rights in Iran are not able to function."

And?

I don't see any problem with this.

If that's part of their religion & part of their culture, there is absolutely nothing odd about this.

The problem is they always take religion and culture as a scape goat to do what they please.
