Let"s do everything straight, a Quebecer isn't a french, Quebecers actually Hate french people, and they have nothing to do with the french people from France, they dont speak the same way, they have different habits , they hate french people, etc.
As for your question Zero Cool, If you come to Montreal and don't speak french at all, you shouldn't be scared, cause everyone understands basic english, it also depends where you would hang, if you stay downtown Montreal or in the Western Side, everybody speaks english, Western Island is practiclly 80 % english people, If you go to the Eastern Side( Anjou, st-Leonard, St-Michel), then you'll see more immigrants and quebecers, but still you'll be able to communicate with them
