I hate people who immigrate to other countries, but instead of melting with the population and adapt to our culture, they try to impose their culture on us. I hate it. This is not racist or anything. And I also hate that people who immigrate here don't speak a fucking word of english or french. If you're going to live in another country who shares different values and a different language, at least try to learn the language and adapt to their values. As a phone interviewer in a call center I notice everyday how much people actually speak neither english nor french and it annoys the hell out of me.

Are you gonna adapt to our country? Are you gotta learn english or french?

If yes to both, you are welcome anytime :D

(and yes i know you already speak english lol)

Pfft. Speak French in Quebec you motherfucker.

This slut at the Burger King at the Dorval airport she didnt know French at all... I continued to speak french until she said "HEY!!! I dont speak French!!! Speak English if you want to order!"
I answered "tageule chienne, je veux mon Whooper. Donnes moi le sinon je te fais retourner dans ton conteiner"

Carmi please translate, I'm bored.

a lot of people here are complaining in montreal that the people working downtown are not bilingual, but only unlingual (english). eh i say we are in canada and in quebec we have the opportunity to speak not one, but 2 languages. i say everybody should be bilingual.

^ I really agree with you! I learned French in two months. The thing that helped me was the fact that I was surrounded by French speaking people, TV, radio, etc.

ah putin, tu parles vraiment comme une Québécoise toi en? :D

What is wrong with an ethnically diverse society? No body is trying to "force" anything on you... i personally think that other cultures migrating to a country and who maintain that culture only enrich the society. Of course, you do have to adapt to the new country but you can't just forget about your heritage or where you came from. That shit is important. It's ignorant to expect these people to just forget about their roots just like that.

:thumb:

Fuck you for thinking that way. You're the equivalent of a fucking US redneck.

Haha. It is true though. Does it not take time to learn a language? What makes you think they are trying to impose their culture on you, what if they just haven't learned enough of a different language or culture yet?

The main problem is the fact just because you notice someone else is following a different lifestyle to you doesnt mean they are pushing THEIR culture on you. To expect them to change for you means your pushing YOUR culture on them. Diversity is a beautiful thang!

I dont think i have ever experienced foreigners who force their culture on me.In fairness alot of foreigners here learn the language and make an effort to adapt. Some dont, but that is their business. Its none of my business.

I think that America and euroipe are in different situations when it comes to adapting to their new country...

Honestly, when I saw a Chinatown in Bosnia, I wanted to bomb that place...(open joke for you Sebastian.)

When I saw a Chinatown in Montreal, I felt like it was normal since todays* North America was built by purely immigrants, while Europe has been a built and established society who's been there for 1000s and 1000s of years.

*when I said todays society, I mean what America is today, not what it was when the Indians were there.

Lmao.

while i don't agree with having to conform to the society you live in, and to forget your own roots and where you came from, i definitely think that you should learn the language of the country you are moving to. i have had to work with immigrants who don't speak a word of english, and it gets very frustrating. i'm not just talking about newly landed immigrants. there are people who have lived here 5 years or more and never bother to learn the language. i mean if i moved to Germany, i think it would be a good idea to learn how to speak German, wouldn't you? it sure would make things a lot easier lol.

I agree. That's the one thing that annoys me with immigrants is that they'll come over here and not learn the language or the culture of the country they've come to. I argue with people about this all the time, like you won't take your ass to fucking Iran and they'll start speaking Spanish for you, learn some damn English

However, many people immigrate in a state of emergency and might not have the time or means available to dedicate to learning more about the country they're fleeing to. Furthermore, i'm certain no one is trying to force their culture on you, persay. Everywhere I go, I see Americans trying to talk in Spanish or incorporate slang into their everyday way of talking. It's about cultures blending together to form a nice melange of something new and possibly exotic. If you're that upset about people being different from you, stay away from them. I'm sure everyone will be better off. :thumb:

P.S.

I know this isn't about Latinos per say, that's just my example because that's who I identify with.
