Seriously, the quality of the mainstream and semi mainstream is nice right now.

Rick Ross's album was actually good. Eminem's is very good to great. Cam'ron's is nice. Red and Meth's is awesome. Even Paul Wall's is on point.

If you go back a little further, Slim Thug and Jadakiss's were dope too.

I haven't heard Busta Rhyme's album yet but I expect it to be dope too.

Eminems album was pretty good, i'll give you that.

Rick Ross ? shit IMO, the guy is a terrible rapper
Jadakiss ? Another mediocre studio album

I've still to check out Meth and Red and Cam'ron's drops. Hopefully they're a bit better.

I felt ashamed for even listening to it.
It's.. just terrible. lol
If somebody played it to me 2 or 3 years ago I'd think that it's a joke.

But you're just...wrong.

The beat is hot - fact.

The chorus is hot - fact.

The meaning behind the chorus is hot - fact. Get it, "you spin my head right round right round" DICK SUCKING!

Flo-rida's flow on the song fits the beat - fact.

Right Round is the hottest club track in 2009 so far.

No, boom boom pow is not...not yet anyway. We'll see how summer goes.

I'm still not sure if you're serious so I won't discuss in case you were making fun or something :p

Yes, the whole song is pretty much about sucking dick and bitches spending Flo rida's money. It makes this song really hot.
The chorus is okay because it's a remake of a gay (literally) track "you spin me around" which is a classic.. of some sort. There was a short movie of gay anal sex and this song playing in the background which was pretty digusting but amusing in a very disturbing way because the motion of one man's penis entering another man's asshole were perfectly synchronized with "You spin me right round" chorus. That is what I visualise while listening to this song.

It's just a terrible, terrible song and I have no words to describe it.

I'm dead serious.

Judging by your taste in music, you're too "underground" to like a track like this.

Now, as far as your homoerotic visualizations, I can't help you with that. Perhaps you should talk to someone about that. lol

No, I used to like a few mainstream songs but I can't force myself to like this. Come on there is a limit to what you can bear and there is a point why a lot of serious people dislike music like this. Another case is that I always skipped 2pac or Wu-tang songs about sex because they are simply lame but this.. this.. is just unbelievably terrible. Even if you find this to be catchy I don't see a reason why would you listen to this. Fortunately enough nobody played it in a club here yet.. or at least I hope so. If they did it would be nice if Chris Rock made a "Chris rock on hip-hop pt.2" just for this song.

He doesn't have to be underground dude. Seriously, the song sucks. Even in the club.

Serious people dislike dance music?

because essentially, that's what this song is.

Even if you find this to be catchy I don't see a reason why would you listen to this.
well, because it's catchy. you answered your own question.

Listen, it's not like I bump the song on my laptop while doing homework or while browsing the web. But, in a party setting, I like to hear the song played. It's that simple. You haven't found yourself in a party setting while this song is played so I understand your position and from previous threads, you dislike songs about sex in general so no wonder you wouldn't like this song.

He doesn't have to be underground dude. Seriously, the song sucks. Even in the club.
I'm just saying that masta dislikes mainstream club music in general.

How does the song suck in the club? What does that even mean? When the girls go crazy in the club when the song comes on, that sucks? When the beat knocks real hard in the club, that sucks?

Deep down, you guys are hypocrites. If you were at a party and met a cute girl and you were tipsy and this song came on and the girl wanted to dance to it, you'd be feeling the track. For sure. But you won't admit. It's fine.

I guess that you can't believe that some people actually dislike it. Hell some people dislike clubbing.
I sometimes find myself listening to stupid songs from the 90s which are meant to be disco music and are usually made for fun.
This is horrible overall. Taking away each element from this track one by one starting from raps, vocals etc. this song would get better and better after it would be left with bassline only.

Your judging is so wrong on this one.
I dislike clubbing, I used to go to clubs more often but "grew out of it" - I can't describe it any better. I don't find it fun anymore.
Whenever I go to a club I only go there to socialise with my friends who enjoy it and most of them definately wouldn't even dance to this. Also, I honestly hate meeting or dancing with new girls in clubs so your argument is pointless here.
I dislike 'mainstream' music and the only political reason behind this is because it ruins hip-hop's opinion. And it's not that I hate everything that is on tv. You get it all wrong again. I simply find most songs on the radio or tv shitty because I really find them shitty, musically. So set aside that argument about hh's opinion. If someone says "I hate techno" it most probably means that he dislikes that genre of music, not because he "hates on something". Most of all I dislike the genre of "hip-pop" itself.

You often attack others like this, forcing them to defend even if your statements are terribly wrong and you are not even bothered by that ;)

My argument is not pointless, on the contrary, you just proved my argument.

You don't like the song because if you take all the intentions that Florida and his label had for the song, you don't apply to any. Simply put, you're not the target market at all.

In layman's terms, the song is not for you. You're not supposed to like it. My only fault here is trying to argue that you shouldn't dislike the song when clearly you're not supposed to like it due to your characteristics. I should've just said to myself "don't reply sofi, you know why he doesn't like it."

You often attack others like this, forcing them to defend even if your statements are terribly wrong and you are not even bothered by that ;)
You proved every one of my statements and assumptions about you so far.

I gave you reasons why the song is hot but they don't apply to you because whatever the song intends, is not what you like. I'm having a hard time phrasing it but I'm sure you understand.

So, the song doesn't fail in its own right because it satisfies its objectives, the only thing is, you're not a part of its objectives.

Right Round is hot in the club Ill give you that. I am sick of hearing it in the car on the radio all the time, but in the club, it is a hot track.

I still cant believe Flo Rida has taken off so much, I thought he would be a one hit wonder. His next song is with Lady Gaga and will be a smash too.

Anyway, someone said the rest of the albums are 2/5, I disagree. Id say they are at least 3/5 albums. If I was to mention 2/5 albums Id have added Jim Jones's to the list.

So a 3/5 average in the mainstream is pretty good. Its heading in the right direction.

Heck even in the mid 90's golden era the average was that at best, we just all look back at it with rose colored glasses.

I really fail to see the difference between a catchy song like Cali Love or How Do You Want It and the current catchy songs designed to make the listener DANCE and be played at in the club. The style may have changed sure, but the purpose behind it is the same. Or something like I Got 5 On It?

Some of the singles coming out of Bad Boy back then were just terrible (Im looking at you Mase).

Most of the albums were 3/5 at best.

So if right now we have that average, Im happy. We're moving in the right direction, away from Soulja Boy type shit and back to real rappers trying to make good ALBUMS instead of hit singles and even the singles aren't trivial bullshit. They may be catchy, but they're meant to be, doesn't mean they're wack.

My argument is not pointless, on the contrary, you just proved my argument.
There's a small misunderstanding here.
Most of my answer concerned this:

Deep down, you guys are hypocrites. If you were at a party and met a cute girl and you were tipsy and this song came on and the girl wanted to dance to it, you'd be feeling the track. For sure. But you won't admit. It's fine.

I perfectly agree that this song is "not for me". You didn't have to repeat yourself with that.
That song does not suit me, doesn't fit to what I believe is good music. I agree and I knew it from the start.
You like that song for your own reasons, okay. I fail to understand them.
I perceive this as a bad song, you might see something different in this but I voiced my own opinion on what I think and how I see this song.
It's as simple as that.
