Well every now and then i think about all thse online businesses and i was wondering if anybody has any insight on the hosting world.

- How much would you need as a start up?
- Besides the servers, what are other essentials for this kind of venture?
- And if this were to get off the ground, how much could the site generate in revenues?

Thank you for any info.

In order to get a large successful hosting company:
LOTS of time to put into it, access to computer 24/7 - server downtime/server virus's etc, im judging from experience and common knoweldge.

How much money is needed, general servers cost $130 monthly and up, you will need a few, and a LOT of knoweldge with them. Its not a walk in the park, upgrading the servers, keeping the bandwidth down, modifying the servers, watching the cpu, updating the bios, updating general software.

You wont become rich from hosting or not for years anyway, so if thats what your thinking, get that out of your head, 70% of the renevue will probaly go back to the servers and this is if and only if you can actually get it off the ground, given time.

thank you. Nah i wasn't thinking i would become rich from it. There's always the possibility of actually buying the server right? the cost is something which can be dealt with at any time.

Well yea you could buy the servers rather than rent them, but thats only really if you have the T-3 connections and a couple of thousand $$$ to buy the software lol.
