Homophobes

I dont go out in public and make my sexual preference publicly clear to everyone that i am straight inorder for me to be accepted in society, I've had over 12 jobs in the West and neither of them asked me if i'm Gay or straight. I believe homosexuals are no different. dont act like as if its either you make it public or be forced to change, fact is you can remain gay and be accepted in society.

So you dont go out with your girlfriend in public? No holding hands, hugging, or kissing? You dont invite her to Sunday dinner with your family? You dont go anywhere outside your house with your girlfriend and show effection?
If you were to have a same sex partner many of those things would be hard to do if your family and friends were against the relationship and in many cases they are banished from the family all together. I consider that a big impact on whether a person changes to be accepted back into the family circle. Not all but I do think it would have an impact on some people.
And I didnt say gay people loose jobs because of their sexuality. What I meant is in my experience gay people get outcasted by family and friends, they get stares in public etc. I'm not using this for a template to every homosexual in the world. There are different situations and I can see how some may say their gay to get attention or whatever. I never set out to stereotype the entire gay community.

To be honest with you no I dont, sure I go out in public with my fiance and all but I rarely to never do I do any of those things in public, we keep our affection under our roof. having her near me in public is enough. However, I do believe that is a very small price to pay if I was among those who show affection in public, I would never even think of changing who I am if I was forced to not show any of those things to my partner in public, is keeping your love for your partner private such a hard thing to do that it forces someone to change a trait he/she was 'born' with?

What's your source for this?

For me if I love someone I want to show that whenever I feel like it whether thats in public or elsewhere it doesnt matter. It's no problem you dont show affection in public but I dont know anyone else who is like that. I think its wrong to ask someone to stop doing something that hurts nobody.
I think we may have misunderstood each other at some point I dont neccessarily beleive people are born gay. I think anyone who is gay could have just as easily been straight, I think its the things that happen to people which create their sexuality. On the other hand I have no idea if its something genetic.
What I disagree with you on is whether its as easy as you say to talk someone out of being a homosexual. Some people are weak and easy to manipulate and I think the life some gay people live makes that easier and if your a phycotherapist it'd make it that much easier to manipulate someone. I dont think its fair to make the argument that its the same as talking someone out of being a certain race, a person is usually born into a family of the same race that creates their identity and can relate to it. A gay person doesnt usually have an entire family of people with the same sexuality.

Edit: I just read that site you posted up and a site that was linked by the one you posted. From what I can tell the people who did change their sexuality did so because they wanted to, either it conflicted with their own personal beleifs or the families. I agree if someone wants to change their sexuality that is possible, but I couldnt imagine someone who didnt want to change being 'healed'.
