No, I was deducing it to being luck that he survived the shooting, not that he got shot. I don't have data on how often people survive five shots to the body like 'Pac did but it's safe to assume it doesn't happen all the time. That's where I included luck. I believe that no-one conclusively knows the truth as many pro-religion have stated. But through rationale thought and the contradictions within religion itself I have decided FOR MYSELF, as each person is entitled to their own faith adn I wouldn't suggest that I am going to tell people what to think, that conventional religion is used for control.

I also can't believe in god or an afterlife. But admit that I would love to. It would give me much comfort from death. But from the advances in Science, and the fact it just seems extremely far fetched to me, I can't. As long as people don't push their beliefs on me though, I won't push mine on them. My mum believes in god and we don't discuss it all day long. lol

Pittsey i understand your position has been constant in this thread, of what you say is contradiction or hypocrisy in religion but for some reason throughout this thread the line has been blurred between organised religion and faith period. Ive always believed theres people can be non religious but pro faith but even at times post would be against having faith the reasoning would have something to do with religion or the Bible specifically

All he did was score high on an IQ test, which just shows he's good at answering questions that are on IQ tests. In research, the term "intelligence" is far too vague to be useful. In the 1960s, "intelligence" used to be defined as "what is measured with an IQ test." Great scientific definition, huh? Now the term "cognitive functions" is used, and it tries to measure a lot more than IQ tests do. You should read The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen jay Gould, if you're interested in intelligence testing and what's wrong with it.

Langdon is simply saying the universe is like a mind and our minds are parts of this big mind. This is not a new idea and I think it's a good way as any to look at it. However, he chooses to call this metaphor "the Mind of God," but he does not relate it to any religion's conception of "God." One could say the same thing by calling it "the Universe." The point is, his theory or mathematical "proof" (which he has yet to present 10 years after he said he had it) should not be taken up by religious believers in God as backing up their faith belief. It's got nothing to do with it. If he has anything beyond theory, it's simply a description of the universe like other scientific descriptions. He just irresponsibly and unscientifically uses the word "God."

And rich and successful people often thanking God is not evidence that God helped them. It's just evidence that poor and unsuccessful people who have belief in God do not go blaming God for their bad luck or lack of motivation. But to be fair, they should, (cause even heaven got a ghetto). It's probably also evidence that you watch a lot of award shows with black people who out of cultural habit feel they have to thank God every time they win something.

I've taken Psychology in college, and already knew that in High School that IQ tests are basically, what you said. I mean, it's like $100 to talk to him for an hour. The man talked to me for free bc he said he felt he needed to and knew what i was going through.

When people of great power talk about Religion and don't do it for attention, they never mention the stories that all you guys get mad about. Okay, blood into wine? And you don't really need that much knowledge to become a millionaire. In fact, intellectual knowledge is usually a detriment to making money. Not many rich poets or philosophers. No, connections and a good personality are usually some of the needed qualities to make a lot of money. Also, greed. Sometimes talent and drive, of course.

Weird that you are mentioning intellectual knowledge along with poets or philosophers as an example. That would be a good example of people who are a bit out of this world, but not intellectual knowledge because little of them have it (or they have covered irrelevant areas thus they don't know what they should know to make money). Either you are using a bad example or you have a misconception about intellectual knowledge, or making money. In fact real intellectual knowledge would be on the list of things contributing to making money. It's absolutely in no way a detriment (unless we're talking about very specific situations). However that alone will not be enough, yes. You can make money while being a dummy too but that's because other factors came into play.

This includes literary critics, historians, social critics, art critics, and esp. philosophers. These are all intellectuals. An old term was "men of letters."

Maybe I was stretching it for most poets today, but the best ones know their literature and are definitely men and women of letters. Worthless in the market place, for the most part.

Science has said for a long, long time that the world has been here a lot lnger than man. The bible says the worl is 6500 years old. As far as i am aware there have been no revisions.
