Harry Potter books aren't just about magic, a lot of the stories reflect a lot of what goes off in the real world. Its like J K Rowling has interwined reality with a story about wizardry.

Harry Potter is an amazing literary acheivement. Just because it has become a pop culture phenom, it has kinda transformed from being a novel to being a children's character. Mostly because of all the accessories (action figures, "journals", scrapbooks, etc.) that have been sold.
Hopefully it will go down as the classic it deserves to be. In the long run it could be with Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and other classics.

the movies are pretty cool but to say they measure up to the lord of the rings trilogy is an overstatement to say the least.

I can't believe Dumbledore died in the last book, no more Hogwarts . Looks to be a very different story, the last book. Unless Albus turns out to have used a Horcrux or two, that would be cool!

While there is little wrong with the Harry Potter books, it would be a grave overstatement to even compare it to the LOTR trilogy. By no means can Harry Potter touch those books on a literary level.

I don't know about Narnia, but if it's written half as well as Tolkien's work, it's very good indeed.

Yeah Harry Potter is no near the LOTR trilogy. but still those HP books are up there with the best books to be writing this century.

and yeah me too can't believe Dumbledore is dead. i liked him and Sirius dead too now i wanna see Ron and Hermione together now

im ok with the series, but its just taking so long to release a new book, i forget half the stuff....when there were references made to the previous books in the 6th one, i had no clue what they were talking about...i always ended up thinking, "oh wait, did that really happen? that dude died?" so really, while i do enjoy reading the series, i've read better books, and really, if the bastard dies, i couldnt care less, cuz at one point, these books used to entertain me (the first 3 or 4 when i was in middle school). now its just to finish something i started....i cant just quit in the middle....


and about that quote, after reading it, i felt the same way as some people above, that it was misinterpretted....would someone of that ...importance???...reveal something like that?? wouldnt rowling hire hitmen for this guy for giving out the secret???


and say it were to happen, how would it?? would he take out voldemort (sp) or go out with him, or Big V kill him and live on??? i want some twist kinda like the sirius black one, where he ends up being related to harry....now if that's historically impossible, then back to what i was saying before, i forgot half the details of previous works, which isnt good....i'll just sparknote them....

yeah theres a break too long between each book. its so long. i'm waiting for the last one. but from what i hearrowling has just made the plan and has not started to write it yet.
