Non-Urban Music Happy Birthday Kurt Cobain

#23
I consider Nirvana a very talented and influential band and Kurt Cobain, a great musician. That's not to overrate them, that is a mere reflection of the impact they had on me and my life. I listen to a lot of different music, but sometimes only Nirvana hits the spot.

no disrespect meant but kurt a fuckin herroin feind, he used to take all types of shit, got no respect for anyone who take that nasty shit, fuckin smackheadz, overrated definately, good at writin songs yeah, but what he blows his own head off n everyone plays homage, all you kurt riders prolly tell me theres a lot more to it, but takin all types of nasty shit, livin under a fuckin bridge, then blowin ya head off don't make you a legend, but RIP kurt
So you can't respect Kurt 'cause he was a suicidal junkie, but you have no problem signing up for the message board of a drug-dealing criminal and convicted sexual assaulter?

To be clear, he was acquitted of rape. Sexual Assault was the charge of which he was convicted, forcibly touching the buttocks. Illegal in New York State.

You raise a good point, though, I guess.

you right i have no problemz signin up for this board, cuz i respect the person who this board truly belongs 2, tupac's m0m was a crackhead, he was raised and surrounded by crack headz but he never became a crackhead, i come from an area polluted with smackheadz, some of my homiez brothers are smackheadz, i got no respect for anyone associated with that drug, 2pac was there to enlighten people by settin examples for people to try n follow, kurt cobain although has some enlightening lyrics in my eyes how can i respect anythin that comes out of a smackheadz mouth, even more so someone who takes their own life, thats goin from weak to pathetic,

And you think sexual assault and drug dealing are good examples to set? If you can't respect someone addicted to crack, how can you respect someone who gets people addicted to crack?

How can you respect anything that comes out of a drug dealers mouth? How can you respect anything that comes out of a criminals mouth? Vincent Van Gogh committed suicide, it doesn't make what he did during his life any less brilliant. It doesn't mean you can't respect him as an artist. Ray Charles was a heroin addict, does that mean you can't respect the music he made?

number 1 its just my personal opinion, number 2 i can understand your arguments, but kurt cobain was a bum, his bitch was a bum n still is, pac came from the dealer shit, n turned that 2 somethin positive, maybe my wording was a little harsh for kurt coke crack, but tryna compare lesaine wit kobain is wrong cuz its evidently clear that there are more positives for pac, ijust cuz someone is a drug dealer or criminal doesn't make them a bad person, they still can talk a lot of sense, they aint the ones strung out on drugs, thats how i can respect em, there are plenty of smackheads that talk sense too but when you fucked up on drugs its easy to point out all the wrong things, n all the things not to do, i get people on all types of shit sayin don't do this n don't do that, n for the most part they right, but i can't respect what their sayin cuz they aint set no examples to better themselves, the ray charles mention was a good point though

I know it's your opinion, and I can see where you're coming from. I too lose a lot of respect for someone as an individual if they become addicted to drugs. Though he might have been a shitty person, I still think that Cobain was a brilliant songwriter and one third of a seminal rock band.

Im sick of reading how everyone is basically saying that Nirvana sucked. R U FUCKING KIDDING ME?

First of their music was not made to be difficult to play. That is not their style of music. It is what it is. Im sick of everyone on here talkin like they know so much about EVERYTHING. Nirvana created music that almost anyone can feel.

Let me give an example. I have a friend that Strictly listens to hardcore rap, non stop all day. He had never heard the CD Nevermind before and he was completely blown away by he CD and how it applies to any person of any race at any time. The thing about Nirvana is that they were always Nirvana, they of course matured throughout time but they always were well respected among musicians and most importantly their fans.

Cobain impacted a lot of people because a lot of white teens at the time (such as myself) can relate to the anger, frustration, and some of the things he talked about. Who gives a FLYING FUCK what drugs he was on. WHAT popular musicans do u know that were perfect and let alone never took drugs or had fucking problems?

He is dead now and there is no point talking about his past and his drugs because NO One in here knows Kurt or how many drugs he took, unless u hung out with the man. So instead of bashing him and degrading a dead man who unfortaniatly can not be as perfect as all of you, CELEBRATE what he accomplished because it will be more than any of us can ever imagine.

I could go on forever it is a waste of my time...FUCK ALL YOU HATERS

RIP Kurt
peace

I think it's ironic that people are criticising Kurt Cobain for his lifestyle, when no-one would have condemned him more than himself. I think you'll find he was very aware of his mistakes and that ultimately was the problem. He lost his self-respect and his self-esteem. This is why he did the things he did. So even in death, in his attempt to free himself from the shame, people find ways to criticise him. Whereas I think there is much to be learnt from him, his life and his thoughts:

"Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with with your self esteem."

"My generation's apathy. I'm disgusted with it. I'm disgusted with my own apathy too, for being spineless and not always standing up against racism, sexism and all those other -isms the counterculture has been whinning about for years."

"It's better to burn out, than to fade away."

"If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere lives on. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got."

"I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not"

Whatever. I don't care. The only thing I took from it, really, was that you're stupid because you don't know he was quoting Neil Young in his suicide note. You know, when he said the stuff about burning out/fading away. Also, I won't be back to this thread, so don't bother responding.

Yes, you don't care and that is the underlying point isnt it. Out of everything I just said, the only response you have is that Kurt quoted someone else...lol

You ignore the message in my post and you totally ignore ShArpEnUrSwOrD's post... perhaps you are just too ashamed to admit there was some truth there.

Too late. Already did.
