Hi there, could I ask you all to spend a few minutes and express your views/opinions on the greenness of companies such as Airline companies, Public Transport, Councils, Supermarkets either as a whole, or in your local area etc - please state which city.

Ive forgotten who, but i would really appreciate it if the person who worked for the company who was making green cities and met his boss could perhaps make a contribution too.

This is to gather qualitative data. I would like to read everyone's opinions.

Talk about the greenness of any conmpany, product or service and if you think the future is safe in their hands.

Thank you very much indeed for your time.

Google opinions from every day consumers.

OH BABY.

On a serious note, I'd love to help but I'm busy and it'd be so boring to think about that. I'd rather shit a brick. Not really, but maybe a tiny rock.

Ummm... the city of Minneapolis, or the Metro Transit in MN, USA utilize about two dozen hybrid busses painted in green. Something like 90% fewer emissions. There's a plan to introduce more.

My consumer opinion? They are nice.. doesn't stink like old busses and less noise pollution as well. But fuck public transportation. I want a V8.

Is that what you're looking for, Sandeep?

Companies may want their buildings or workplaces to be green to improve their public image. you can also see alot of green on Company logos to give the impression that they are green.

Green buildings have high energy ratings. In ireland an A rating is very high but expensive to obtain. Its also difficult to acheive a very good rating in existing buildings.

buidlings with high energy ratings are expensive to
construct but will have less heat losses therefore lower fuel consumption and lower heating fuel costs. Money may be saved in the long run.

materials such as eco blocks used in construction

Insualtion with higher R value

triple glazed windows

use of solar panels (look awful)

wood pellet boilers.

harvesting rain water for every day use

use of wind energy.

Controlled Ventilation- HVAC systems

bla bla bla.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

i have some notes on green construction. if they are of use, i could forward them on

Far from being eco-friendly in my book.
Mostly because consumers don't give a fuck. There's still a minority of people who really care.
1. Most "green" products are more expensive than their casual counterparts and you have to pay that difference.
2. Even in same price I found out that some people would rather buy a none-eco friendly product because they consider it less lame.

Personally I care about environment - I really do. It annoys me whenever I get a huge pile of paper whenever I buy a new phone or when I see idiots driving a 4l diesel. It's just that it's hard to make a difference by minor things like those most companies do. It's like "for every animal you don't eat I eat 3" thing. There are things that could be done but nobody really wants to. Companies go green only where it's profitable and it's much more talking and marketing than it's really worth it.
Overpriced Prius is a good example.

It was me that you speak of.

I'll be back to contribute a lot more later. I'm busy with these hippie save the planet chicks

yes please bobby. that would be very helpful indeed. thanks guys.

Honestly, the "greenness" of a company is of little importance to me. That's probably because I'm a starving university kid and don't buy much shit. I try to do the little things, I don't litter, I use one of those reusable water battles, I take coffee in a mug, I take the bus (can't afford a parking pass + gas), etc. I'm willing to bet most people here are in the same boat.

^ airline companies? well, Obama is pushing for highspeed rail it seems like.. it might work for the coasts but not cross-country imo. air travel is needed in America and investing in hybrid planes would be a better route. as for high speed rail - those rails will need to have more guards and fences than the US-Mexican border.

Target Field deemed greenest ballpark in majors - TwinCities.com

I speak for the majority of Minnesotans when I say that we are proud of our new Twins stadium.
It also helps that the Twins line-up is looking mighty good.

Another reason why i hate people. All I hear is drive less, fly less etc etc etc.

THATS NOT THE FUCKING ANSWER.

People need to look for real solutions. What we need is our governments to be investing in technologies to reduce the fuel vehicles use, or find alternative clean fuels.

And i'll bitch slap any fucker that complains about wind farms. ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID? This shit will save the fucking planet, stop fucking bitching cos there is a big ass fan in a field and appreciate what this shit is doing.

^Well, yes, innovation is key. But people need to start changing their habits too. It's cheaper that way.
