Gorillaz

i really like them their first album (not sure what it was called) was really good, some really good tracks, some a bit weird but that's what makes them stand out.

feel good inc is a really good song, really catchy, always puts me in a good mood after hearing it

both good albums, purchased them both, i dont know what catergory the would be placed under though, some tracks can be hip hop, and half of demon days seems like a mellow rock, thats just my opinion though, all yall?

They got De La Soiul, MF Doom and Dangermouse etc. on their new CD so it crosses into hip-hop somewhere. I like them.

Isn't Dangermouse their new producer instead of Dan the automator?
De La Soul is featured on Feel Good Inc.

got gorrilaz,g-sides and demon days..

though i would put demon as their worst album, its still a very good album..i think if u compare it with their previous albums it kinda fades away from hip hop(or trip hop-which i think best suites them better) to rock, like prez said before.

feel good is great and so is november has come, however unlike their other albums i didnt find that track that really stands out, like for example the o.g version of clint eastwood or(perhaps in a minutely lesser degree) the sounder.

Are they hip-hop?

I'm not sure, but if Outkast are still classified hip-hop then this must be.

hehehe, I saw the title of the thread and thought - the gorillaz are hip hop, what?

When I think about it though I agree with C.A.P 23 - trip hop for sure.

The dude who is behind the Gorrilaz (y'know the band doesn't really exist) is really into hip hop even though his other band (blur) are a rock band so it is just a fusion.

Clint eastwood-Classic

There's more people than Damon Albarn. So I'd say the band does exist. Although I pretty much had already guessed that the cartoon Gorrillas weren't real.

Gorillaz is a loose pop music collective or supergroup, comprising Blur frontman Damon Albarn, hip hop artist Dan the Automator, turntablist Kid Koala, cartoonist Jamie Hewlett, Cibo Matto vocalist Miho Hatori and their collaborators (who have included Talking Heads' Tina Weymouth, Terry Hall and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien).

How you figure that? With the exception of Andre's CD The Love Below nothing OutKast has released even comes close to being anything but Hip-Hop.

Well Dan the Automator isn't exactly part of the group considering Danger Mouse did his part on Demon Days. I don't think Kid Koala was on DD either.
I think Gorillaz is only Damon Albarn, Jamie Hewlett and maybe Cibo Matto and Miho Hatori.

Well yeah. I may have ignored several Outkast albums.

But I was struggling to find a similar sound. And modern Outkast and Gorillaz are fairly Similar.

And I lifted that Quote from the Gorillaz website. I was just trying to show that they consist of more than Damon Albarn.

Yea, wasn't trying to disprove what you said or something (although my post did sound like I was), just trying to find an answer to the question.

Their first album was hot. I remember when I was in 7th grade, I would list them as my favorite group when asked. Clint Eastwood was the shit. The second one, I skimmed through it and didn't feel it as much.

yeah they got that other song diirty harry, its there latest single i think, its got dude from pharcyde on the joint
