I just got these yesterday as gifts and I think DR and Koch did a great job. Aside the fact the video encoder couldn't tell the difference between top and bottom field orders when the video was interlaced for those of you who know, which causes the stuttering (frame loss) in parts through the music videos. Other than that the DVD-A side sounds crisper and has more clarity than ever IMO.
For those of you who wish they could play the DVD-A Enhanced Stereo in their CD player (in their car for example), your wish has come 95% true. The 5% bad part is that it's going to be one continuous track (you won't be able to scroll through the CD song by song). But who cares, I let any Pac CD ride from beginning to end. There is a way to put a track by track compilation together, but that's too difficult to explain (easy to do if you take the time to learn it though). I might have made this guide more noob-friendly than I should've... it looks complex and long but it's actually only 5 or so steps.
Anyway, here we go. You'll need 2 programs and CD-R.
Smartripper - http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Rippers/SR241.rar
Nero or a program that burns Audio CD's.
We'll be ripping the AEOM DVD-A.
After downloading Smartripper extract the files to a folder of your choice and put the AEOM or Makaveli DVD side into your disc drive. Start up Smartripper. SmartRipper will load the DVD and you should get a window with three buttons on the left and the "movie" button should be highlighted. (If Smartripper fails to load the DVD, you'll have to unlock it with DVD Player Software such as PowerDVD or WinDVD. Or if you get an ASPI error, go here: http://www.doom9.org/aspi.htm).
Now, you'll have a window with 2 tabs at the top: "Input" & "Stream Processing". Click Input. For AEOM, there will be seven program chains. 5 of them are the videos, the other two are the digital audio (2 books). Look around the program chains, and find the two longest durations, which are obviously the songs.
So first we'll rip Book 1. Click on program chain #4, then click on "Angle 1 [01:10:22]". Leave the 2 other green boxes to the right of that alone. Now go to the "Stream Processing" tab up at the top. Check "Enable Stream Processing" Uncheck the first, third and fourth streams. The only stream that should be checked is "Audio English LPCM (2Ch) 48kHz 16bit". Now, highlight it and check the button "demux to extra file" on the right to the green box we're working in. Leavw everything else there alone.
Now, we'll go to the bottom and decide where we're going to save the file to... pretty self explanatory.
Now, hit the "Start" button. the ripping will take about 30-60 seconds depending on your hardware or w/e.
You'll get probably three or four files in the output directory you chose. The only file we'll need is the .wav file. It should be labeled something like this: Audio_English_LPCM(2Ch)_48kHz_16bit__)_Delay_0ms.wav. You can delete the other files.
Start up Nero, or the burning proggie of your choice and burn the .wav file to CD-R through the Audio CD option.
Do the same exact thing to with the second book. It should be labeled "Angle 1 [00:57:50]".
Good luck. If you have any questions hit me up through email or msn.
