Earbud headphones?

I only use headphones at home, for music, PC gaming and such. I may have wore em once outside, only cause it was cold as hell, and my ears needed to be kept warm (I was rushing out of the house and couldn't find my tuque). Else from that, earbuds all the way.

I have massively obnoxious gaming headphones. >.< Turtlebeach x41..

Ok lets put in another factor, In the UK, if you were on public transport listening to music using anything other than earbuds headphones, you're a target for getting robbed. People wear discrete headphones here, because if you make it known you are listening to music, you're likely to have a phone or mp3 player on you, making you a potential victim. This is how it is where I live, and in London (you could probably get away with it in Central London), and definately in areas like Birmingham, Mancheste, Liverpool or Newcastle.

I bet American kids walk around with iPods in their hands or hanging around their necks on the outside of clothing. Here thats an open invitation to getting jacked.

I agree to an extent.

Personally.... I am always on my phone and have it in the open. If someone wants it, they are going to have to kill me. I am serious.

Someone tried to take my jacket when I was younger. Pulled out a lock knife. I asked him if he was prepared to stab me for it, as I wasn't taking it off. He walked off.

Yeah here it's even much more dangerous than in England if it comes to getting robbed for your phone, obviously. But the older I get the more rare these situations seem to get.

I know the code of the streetz, biatch.
PS. The fact that most jocks from here have moved to England might also contribute to that :p

You guys don't really think we still wear baggy jeans and jerseys do you? Maybe in the 90's and ealry 00's when it was a dying trend. Even then it was "ghetto folk" and whiteboys from the burbs, and Casey Rain. But now London is more dangerous than Major Cities in the US? How about the chances of a crime being committed raises in any major city anywhere in the world. Lol at earbuds being discrete like they can't be seen. Obviously they aren't as big headphones but that's like comparing baggy jeans and skinny jeans, people can still see that you're wearing em lol.

I dunno man, it's just a different perception. You can't compare it or really try and explain or rationalize it very much. It just is. It doesn't go any further than that. Obviously I spend a great deal of time in the States so understand the perspective of ARon and S O F I (nice jab btw, i enjoyed it :) ).

But still, what Pittsey and Gotti have said is still true. That's still what it's like here. For whatever reason. You can try and reason it out but that doesn't make a difference. If you spend a lot of time in both places you just accept it for what it is. I think Americans fail to understand this more so than most tourists that come here. You can spot an American here a fucking mile away. It's pretty funny.

Skinny jeans are so 5 years ago. But again, not worn by me, as it doesn't fit my image..... : )

Catch up America.

Seriously, no I don't. And I don't give a fuck about headphones either. I was just fishing. But SOFI didn't come back. I thought he was biting nicely. : )

WE had a problem here with people robbing when they saw the distinctive white ipod ear phones.

And the difference with crime here and crime there. IS the US is far, far tougher on crime.

Because of fat???

Wait.. no seriously... explain.

I think he's just reiterating the stereotype that Americans are very egocentric. Which is true for some Americans. I always feel like most foreigners typical portrayal of an American is an American from the South, well those are the ones they like to joke about the most it seems.

That's what I assumed as well, but was curious of his explanation. I'd like to think his viewpoint would be, er.. better, perhaps less biased because he spends a lot of time both in the States as well as in England. So he's fairly aware that not all Americans are the standard stereotype that I think most people think of when they think of an American.

most youngsters dont use headphones. they play their nonsense from their loudspeakers, on the bus to annoy members of public... or was it for listening pleasure?

Don't get me wrong I love America.

The greatest holiday of my very short (because I am young SOFI) life so far was the month I spent in California and New York. Although obviously I prefer the young cosmopolitan Americans. But you can usually spot an American by how they are dressed. Just like I can spot a Frenchie or a german. The Euro's style is far worse!!!

And Masta, sorry, but I can spot a Pole in the UK a mile off. Usually wearing something like Cream jeans. *vomits*

I expected most Poles living in England to wear trackpants. They upgraded their gear, it seems. When I was in London I recognized most instantly by the looks and *ahem* language. Unfortunately decent Poles are still a minority in London.

Back to the topic though I still own these, Sennheiser PX100:

I don't wear them on public communication but I do for sports or listening to the music at home or during travels since they don't block outside noise which is a positive feature to me since no mad cab driver can take me by surprise when I'm jogging or riding a bike.
They look nowhere as good as they sound and they are perfect for mobile phones and mp3 players because of low impedance and great sound quality (I mean really great, you can find reviews as it was a very popular model). Plus they are nicely foldable so you can fit them in your pocket. I love these headphones. I'm aware that there were numerous new versions and I'm not really sure of a modern successor.

^I bought those at your recommendation, actually. If you remember that one thread I had back in the day, that is. No complaints yet.

I'm in my 30's and it shows. LOL. Was that some weak dig? I'll take it as a compliment.

I'm just saying how I'd perceive it. Anyway, "the tube" was mentioned so I went along with public transportation. Ever since I graduated college, I haven't ridden the bus so I don't wear headphones and even then, I used in-ear, not because I'd look like a cunt in the eyes of a brit, but because it would mess with my hair, mayne!!

Like I said before you don't know the rules, so can't follow them.

You're not exempt just because you are American. The rules differ depending on your age, social standing and nationality. But headphones on the tube/subway/metro or any public transport don't fit the rules. Same way pink on a male doesn't make any of the rules. Just because you don't get it, and you are angry at this is not my problem.

If you really believe in these imaginary rules and the need to uphold them, you need to grow up buddy. Also, plenty males have worn pink successfully. Since you like to bring up income and status from time to time, plenty CEOs have worn pink shirts as well. Rules of fashion get broken all the time. It's about moving forward. Not being closed-minded.

Yes. The rules differ for gender too.

And you surely can't wear headphones with a suit. Even an audiophile like SOFI must agree to that. Same as trainers (sneakers) with a suit isn't allowed. Any one who disagrees is trying to go against the grain to seem original, and it is back firing. You have to know which trends to follow and which not to. It's an art.

You can dismiss it as dry humor all you want but it's pretty damn obvious lol that you sincerely hold these views. Wearing suits with sneakers, specifically Chuck Taylors, has been pretty big here in the States. I wonder how it back-fired on them....
