Recently ive just came back from the Netherlands, and want to know more about the dutch hip hop artists and which rapper or group who is good to listen too?. Ive been to the place twice few times few years back in the late 90s so i know it has a huge following in hip hop.

But Ive came across some group by the name of 'De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig' on the TV while i was over there. there beats are alright. Heres a few musicvideos from them which i seen there. Mind that the Chick in the 2nd link is well HOt:horny:

De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig - Watskeburt!

Katja ft De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig - hohoho

That's Katja Schuurman in the second video, worshipped by a lot of Dutchmen :P

Well, honestly, Dutch hiphop sucks, especially nowadays. It's trying to be way too American, with the bling-bling and the hot bitches and all. Very sad too watch. That's my opinion anyway.

De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig (loosely translated as Youngsters Nowadays) is really godawful. Their lyrics aren't even proper Dutch, it's a mixture of German, Dutch, something from a comic book and an userguide for a microwave. But, I gotta say, their beats are pretty tight.

If you want some tight Dutch hip hop, I suggest Brainpower, Extince, Osdorp Posse. A bit more oldskool, but very tight.

I've uploaded a Brainpower song, a diss to Extince actually lol.
Very tight beat and incredible lyrics (if you understand Dutch that is). He crushed Extince with this one.

Right click, save as...

I have some other Brainpower songs as well (not too much though lol). If anyone's interested, I'll upload.

Good thread :thumb:

And DutchMak, its not all like that. Holland is like most countries. The love for hiphop runs fucking deep and we have dope MC's and 50 wannabe's all alike. there are plenty good mc's out there alongside the many crappy ones, lol

Jeugd van Tegenwoordig is an act. Its for fun. Its not really rap and i dont try to view it that way.

There are plenty of good hiphop acts, DutchMak named a few good ones there:

Brainpower: Man been around for ages. Mad nice on the mic. The Ghostbusters diss Dutch uploaded is crazy.

Osdorp Posse: Real shit. You could (arguably) say that what these guys are to dutch hiphop resembles a bit like how Wu Tang relates to the US scene.

Raymzter: Some dislike him but hes cool. He does his own thing. Hes original.

New guy on the scene called Jawat. Hes new, but theres some serious potential.

And my personal favourite: Opgezwolle. This is the creme de la creme of the Dutch scene right now imo. Real rhymes about real situations here. I can somewhat relate to what Pac says, but i cant relate directly to hustling or gang wars. But what these guys (Opgezwolle) rap about is shit i can relate to. Real rhymes, original, fresh quality beats. Their first cd "Vloeistof" is very tight and just today i copped their new release "Eigen Wereld". Been listening it all day, its very good. Theres nothing quite like it out there right now.

I can upload some tracks if you want. It helps if you can understand dutch tho.

Fransje, you GOTTA check their new album. I swear its fantastic.

^^^ Opgezwolle, yeah. I thought of those after a couple of days. Been too lazy to edit them in :)
But I agree, what I've heard of them is very very tight. Also, the videoclips are pretty funny, since my ex is from Zwolle and I even lived there for 2 months, so I recognize a lot of stuff. Every once in a while, you can even find some Opgezwolle graffiti in Zwolle :P

Well, you and I think of Jeugd van Tegenwoordig as an act, but if the threadstarter (no disrespect to him) views that as Dutch hip-hop, don't you think something is terribly wrong the Dutch image? Blame TMF...

Raymzter is pretty good though. Achieved national fame through Kutmarokkanen?!, decided that he didn't want to be the knuffelallochtoon, and then went 'underground'. I only heard one song of that new (probably half a year ago already) album, but I liked it.

Can't say that I've heard of Jawat. Is he Maroccan?

In conclusion: upload some new Opgezwolle :thumb:

The Park track is great. Ive sat in countless parks with my homies as well. Hungover, asking tobacco for a spliff. Definitely.

How'd you like Jawat on Gekkenhuis?

Who exactly is Jawat? :( I'm not really that into them yet lol.
I'll definitely get this CD though, I'm quite amazed really.

Never though I'd actually like Dutch hip-hop ;)

Jawat is the second dude on it.

Why'd you never thought you'd like dutch hiphop? :( Chronic doesnt like it either, he says, the wanker. Ill need to have him listen to this, hehehe.

And just when you plan on listening, your headphones go 'poof'.

Well, because Dutch hip-hop for me is still trying a bit too hard. Lange Frans & Baas B etc..
Perhaps a wind of change will come though ;)

*bump*

Only a month late, but I finally got around to checking out the Opgezwolle album and all I can say is "Wow ."

Duke, you're absolutely right, I'll never doubt you again :P
This album is the fucking bomb, really fucking great.
