Has anybody ever thought about doing this...?
I sort of did this when i moved to brisbane but that was more my environment and stuff..
i woke up this morning before work and asked myself 'is this what i want to do for the rest of my life?' and i realised that the answer was no. I'm brilliant at what i do for work and i get paid well for it but the monotony of what i do is draining the life out of me.
so i thought about it more and said f*ck it.. i want to become a pilot. It allows me to travel etc. I did a bit of research on it and it'll cost me something around $50,000 to get a license, training etc. And first off, i have to go get a medical checkup.
So now i'm fully contemplating this. I'm going to get a run through of what's involved with a mate of mine who's already flying commercial aircrafts and after that, i'll have a talk to my brother. Then i'll get the medical and if i pass, i'll start quit my job and start getting the training.

Anyway have u ever thought of or have u ever done anything similar?

No, never. I like my life the way it is.

But you seem like the type of guy who would do that, yeah. What specifically interests you in being a pilot? Just the traveling?

yeah ive wanted to a bunch of times but the thing is for me was that i had a lot of lose ropes so i couldnt just leave things the way they were cause it wouldn't have worked out in the long run....

but i usually want to 'start over' when i start messing up.....i just use that as a way to get rid of my problems...but no it doesn't really work like that....

Good to hear you are striving everyday to find happiness Salar; that is the way one should live life instead of just accepting one's circumstances.

My friend decided, out of nowhere, to become a pilot. He joined ROTC and he's going to take it from there. I don't see him making it, but I appreciate his aspiration and ambition.

I don't think being a pilot is a fun and adventurous occupation. I think it's just as mundane and monotonous as a 9 to 5 office job. It's just doing the same old routine. If you want to travel, there are many other ways of going about that.

I assume their medical checks and stuff are pretty regular. I don't think being a pilot allows for frequent drug use. :D

Still though, I co-sign what Rukas said.

I really wanted to be a fighter pilot and damn it I would've become one were it not for my poor eyesight.

Damn you, God!

Go for it I quit a high paying job after 10 years and started all over. If you don't want to do it then give it up. Good luck.

^What can Brown do for you?

How about you lower the shipping charges on my ebay items, you brown piece of shit.

Good for you Mr.Teeth. It's always important to go and do what makes you happy. Even if the pay is shit, as long as you love it, you'll find a way to make something out of it.

Yes, my story is very similar. I used to be a fighter pilot but it became so mundane and monotonous that I quit to get a 9 to 5 office job. My real ambition was to work in a pizzaria but I didn't have enough money for the training and I doubt I'd have made the grade.

I wouldn't quit the job but take flight lessons before you change your life. It takes a lot of time to become a pilot and you gotta start with smal aircrafts anyway. So why don't do it as a hobby first, esp cause you can't be sure yet that this is exactly what you want. So I'd say, gather some experiences before you go for it all the way.

Quitting your present job is a big risk to take.

Keep your present job, do the tests on the side. When it gets more serious and the tests get harder, start working half time at your job.

Only quit it when you are sure that you have another one...

Exactly. At least that is what I would do.
