the directors cut spoils it in my opinion. My understanting was a little beyonf what the directors cut presented. It seemed to me the directors cut dumbed it down. And as for me to explain the movie, i'll explain after my exam

See thats what I hated bout the DC. But I look at it like, the DC shows pages from the book. Thats just Grandma Times explanation of whats happening. She explains it scientificly, but doesnt explain why it happens or anything spiritual, which leaves HUGE room for your own conclusions.

wasnt the movie sort of ment to have multiple interpretations?

is frank a ghost? did franks spirit get tossed through a portal? was he trying to set donnie up?

Theres nothing to understand. At the end of the day it doesnt make sence. Darko's job is to realign space and time after the artifact from the future falls into his time line (the engine), thats the point of the movie, realigning everything, but at the end, the engine still falls back through time, except this time Darko dies, so there is no one to realign time, and the universe ends. End of story.
loool how did u get that explaination i sat there shaking my head thinkin WTF? HTF? AND WHYTF?......... glad u cleared it up for me

The Directors cut was how Richard Kelly wanted to release it. Richard Kelly intended for this movie to have multiple interpretations.

Also the real Frank in the movie is actually Donnie's sisters boyfriend, you see his car go past at the start when donnie is riding his bike and his note on the fridge at the party.
