For those who don't know, Motown Records and their songwriting team would basically have different artists on the roster record the same song to see who was right for the song.

I never knew until today, that the incredible David Ruffin (lead singer of The Temptations) recorded a version of "I Want You Back" which ultimately was released by the Jackson 5 as their debut single.

Here's the song - someone has synced it to video footage of the Jackson 5 doing the song, for some strange reason.
